The best camera is one that still works!
I got a call from DCW (digital camera warehouse) today to tell me they have an X100 for me ... which won't actually be here until late this week from their main sales centre in Sydney.
I was asking how their supplies have been going and apparently mine is from the third shipment they've received so far. The first shipment they received one camera, the second they got twelve and the latest they got five!
The poor soul on the phone sounded like he was totally over explaining to customers why this camera has been in such short supply!

LOL ... as nice as it will be to finally get a camera I think we're all kind of talked and thought out a little with the X100.
More a sense of relief than excitement ... I don't ever recall reading so much feedback and information about any item before I've finally received it. As they say though fore warned is fore armed!

FYI I've relocated to Melbourne and every single camera shop I've been to so far has been sold out of them. I cannot believe how popular such a so-called 'niche' camera is!

It's not the waiting for the camera that's bothered me as much as the way the delay has detracted slightly from the spontaneity of the events that led up to me being able to actually get one!

Good Luck and enjoy, Keith! Had you been in Adelaide I would have gladly given you mine for a trial, but my feeling is that anything less than a couple of weeks with it is not enough even for an opinion. (my thoughts continue to evolve, but I acknowledge that I am a slow learner). I reckon you’ll love it.

Well, as long as it gets shipped out in shipments of one or in the single digits, it doesn't take much popularity to make it a sellout.
