Its just a matter of time!
The sensor also includes specific design features that optimize its use in the S2 camera, such as the use of microlenses to increase the overall light sensitivity of the device, enabling improved image quality under low light conditions. In addition, an infra-red absorbing optic was incorporated directly into the sensor’s packaging, enabling the development of a thinner camera design by eliminating the need to include this IR-absorbing function as a separate camera component.

Or just buy a 5D MkII and you'll never need IR filters again!

I hope it is the IR fix - it would have been enough to reach the tipping point for a M8.2 purchase, but alas no.
At least another year wait then :bang:

If Leica provide this solutions to M8, it will be an irresistible option that takes my money away.

First people will embrace a filtered sensor, then turn around and put a UVa on their lenses. I don't get it.

heh, thats a can of worms that did not need to be opened, that said I am completely sold on the 5D mark 2 and will have one for my pro work.

if you worked in the conditions I worked in you sure would want to use a uv regardless if you missed 1% of your image quality...

Well, I understand completely. My point is why bemoan the requisite UV/IR filter when they'll just replace it with a UV anyway? I suppose the bemoaners just don't use filters at all.

IR is a M8 advantage.
IR is a M8 advantage.
I am inferred fan. Therefore, for me the M8 is the best off the shelf IR shooter produced.

How to do the inferred with M8 ?
Just add a IR filter will do ?

I'd wager this is part of the "trickle down" technology to which Leica was referring when it announced the S2. Here's hoping it trickles past the R10 to the M-system.In addition, an infra-red absorbing optic was incorporated directly into the sensor’s packaging, enabling the development of a thinner camera design by eliminating the need to include this IR-absorbing function as a separate camera component.
I wish the future would sort itself out right now so that I could go ahead and buy a digital camera already without any more of this hemming and hawing.
