The FED 28/4.5 (1938), a revolutionary lens

It certainly looks great (and the photo above seems quite sharp). You have made me thinking of buying one from ebay. Are there any culprits to watch out when looking for one?

I don't know Nikos,
I've just seen some Fed-28 on the e-bay, but they are very expensive, just like Leica Hektor 28!
I've payed €150 for my Fed in an Italian shop, a great price, and the lens looks pretty nice!

Unfortunately I don't know any sellers local to me for such stuff and thus ebay is one of my few ways getting one. :(

The main pitfall is that the M39 thread on this lens has a different thread pitch and cross-section than the Leica standard, so that the lens does not screw into many M39 cameras and adapters.

Other than that, not really, except that they're rare and expensive, but you've probably found that out by now ;)
