The final Word (for now) on Forum Membership :)

Great Idea...this premium thing. Helps pay for running the forum and whoever that likes to contribute gets a couple of extra gadgets, if you dont like the gadgets...one can still be proud of their contribution 😎

Glad the site's back, and many thanks Jorge.

While I will probably never use the "Premium" features, I would like to contribute to this site. Unfortunately -like others here- I do not use credit cards. I am hoping that you'll come up with a policy for us plastically challenged users (perhaps Postal M/O's in US$'s would work for you). If I don't see anything posted to this effect in the next couple of weeks I'll PM you for details.

again, thanks.

Hey, what about the email thing. what is your take on that?
Could use an explanation of how that might be useful. I thought at first it was redundant since the site already allows one RFF member to send an email to another, without disclosing the recipient's email address. But I guess it's for senders who are NOT RFF members...

Although regular forum membership is free and has a lot to offer, Premium membership has its benefits which are listed below:

The standard upload limit to the gallery is 5 images per day. With the premium membership, this limit increases to 20 uploads per day. In addition to the increased upload count, your file size also increases to 350k.

You get access to a non rangefinder camera gallery which is only available to Premium members.

You get access to a well organized classified section which allows you to sell your items via a standard buy it now price or via an auction.

Rangefinderforum is also working on a mail forwarding system which will allow premium members to have email sent to them via RFF forwarded to your personal email. So yourname @ rangefinderforum.com will get forwarded to your personal email. This will be part of the Premium membership.

And best of all, you help run this forum which we have all come to like so much 🙂

The membership dues are only $25.00 per year and can be paid via PayPal or Credit Card.

Just ordred the premium package Georges. Feel happy to help running this unavoidable (per day I mean...) site.

Many thanks again for your support and involvment in this beautiful arena.

It was an easy decision to subscribe.

Personally I won't need the email feature mentioned.

Can non-paying-members access the enhanced classifieds section, post comments on someone's item for sale, and purchase items? If not, then I personally see no benefit in posting items for sale there, since they will only be available to a relatively small number of people. Sort of like Ivy League sports... too exclusive for their own good. 😀

Two Classifieds?

Two Classifieds?

Great job with the migration, Jorge. I know from some personal experience that this kind of thing can be a pain in the butt. My membership is on the way - I'm not sure I'd need an "@RFF" email, but I think it's a neat idea.

Concerning the Classifieds (sorry to keep beating a dead horse): the old-style "35mm Classifieds" forum is still open for posting...will it remain the sole venue for non-contributing forum members? Or, will it eventually be discontinued, leaving only the "enhanced" Classifieds with its member/non-member privilege structure?

The enhanced Classifieds are growing on me, by the way, just as long as there's no Auction option. Yucky. It's actually pretty seamless software.

Cheers,
--joe.

non members can post comments and replys to the enhanmced classidieds. Just no ads can be posted.

I don't know which sports are "Ivy League". Are they the ones featured in the Monty Python sketch "Upper Class Twit of the Year"?

still some tuning to do. backups bring the system down and am working on it.

I just paid using Credit Card. Since there was no entry field for User Name, I assume you can make the connection from information in my file. I am happy to support the site, though I'm not sure I will ever use all of the new features. Congratulations on the transition. The new system works great at my location on a DSL line.

Hi Jorge,
Thanks for your efforts, and your proposal is good.

Now, I have a question: How much would we (all members) have to pay if you choosed to have the RFF free of all advertizing, on a basis of let's say one thousand paying members ?

Thank you in advance,
Ruben

Jorge,

Congrats on the upgrade etc. and looks like many of us are sigining on for Premium Membership.

A quick query on Classifieds policy.

In situations where someone is interested in giving away a piece of gear to a student (or some other "worthy") and only wants to charge shipping, is it okay to use General Discussion rather than Classifieds?

I just sent payment. This website gets my support. We pay quite a lot for cable TV each month, and I get an equal amount of enjoyment here in this website.
