Since Fujifilm is going after the rangefinder enthusiast market with the X line. It would be pretty cool if they made their own version of the lens every rangefinder enthusiast lusts after...

THE NOCTILUX

Even if it ended up costing much more than the current XF lenses…say $2500. I would still buy it. It would be a homerun for Fuji (or not ). A .95 35mm (50 equivalent) that is as sharp as the current 35mm 1.4 wide open, but with much more dreamlike bokeh would be an AMAZING lens.
I'm sure Fuji could even keep the weight down, and oh yeah it would have to be AF.

f1.4 just seems a little average to me as the fastest lens in the lineup.

OR... wait just a bit and there'll be a Metabones Speed Booster adapter for your favorite 50/1.4 or 50/1.2 Nikkor or Rokkor or... :)

Yes, but since I have no focus peaking I want AF! Especially wide open...

A good point about waiting for full frame, however this XF lineup is reality right now. I think the Fujilux would make a nice addition. :)

For low light, yes the 1.4 and high iso is sufficient. I'm more referring to subject isolation. It works well with the 35 1.4 for say a head/shoulders portrait, but not as much for say a full body or where more distance is involved such as a nocti can produce.

I mean, we don't REALLY need the Noctilux soo much. But, I am very glad Leica made it.

I use the 35mm 1.4 wide open for full body portraits all of the time. It certainly offers subject isolation wide-open. I made a full body photo of my friend Cal (Calzone of RFF) and his face is in focus and his camera (held against his stomach) is already out of focus. Cal is very skinny so it's not like his gut moved the camera really far away from his face.

Up close, the 35mm 1.4 Fuji will offer more subject isolation due to the fact that the Noctilux can't focus closer than .7 meters. If you have a .95 that can focus as close as Fuji lenses, you'll have paper thin depth of field and that is generally a niche necessity (bokeh freaks aside).

I want Fuji to make the worlds first f.5 Aperture lens, preferably, 35mm equiv. with image stabilization so I can use it at ISO 50, oh, and it has to have rangefinder coupling too so it works on my M without any issues.

.. and the bokeh has to be so smooth it just causes people to think their monitor is broken.

and it must be free with download of the next firmware.

Fuji don't let me down.

Hyperprime already has a lens for xp1/xe1

Personally never been interested in a lens that fast. My fastest lens right now is a canon rf 501.2. Never really used it very much.

I would rather Fuji fill out its lens line in other areas before tackling a .95 w/af. I cannot remember if anyone as ever made a lens that fast w/ af.. All the ones that come to mind are mf lens like this Hyperprime.

When will Fujifilm introduce 1/20,000th of a second so the bokeh freaks can use the .95 lens wide open on the beach? ;)

Just like that Mitakon 35 .95 on ebay, but with AF. I'm just saying I think it would be fun.
And if Fuji made it, it would be a thing of great beauty.

f/0.5? pff! bring me an f/0.01, I need it to shoot in coal mines with no artificial light, fuji will most certainly deliver. oh, and it has to be a pancake lens also.

I've never felt the need for anything faster than f1.4, but a Fuji 35 0.95 with Noctilux-like quality and AF at a 50 Summicron price point would pique my interest. Probably not enough to buy one, but... ;-)

I'm a rangefinder enthusiast, but no interest in fast lenses any more. The fastest I've ever owned was the Nokton 1.1, even when I could accurately focus it (which was rare), I just ended up with the usual paper thickness of focus and everything else a blur. I know that's the point of such lenses, but I don't really see what I'd do with it, as in, what practical application is there for such a small DOF?

And of course the Nokton 1.1 is massive, probably over twice the size of a Nokton 1.4, for less than a stop more of light.

So, no, not for me...
