The Gallery is Open

Please don't change/modify the gallery again. I don't want to keep manage my photo albums again and again. Now my camera's info are all gone in my albums. :-( I beg others are the same. I hope you don't mind my opinion. We all here enjoy photos not the fancy browser.

Working well, though I still miss the random photo feature. Thanks Jorge.

Terence, I see the random images in the lower right. It is only five images, but looks like there may be room for more, ten total maybe, Jorge?

Hey Jorge!!

Hey Jorge!!

The Gallery looks great!! Thanks for all your hard work. Your continuous effort to always improve this site for our enjoyment is tremendously appreciated.

No more mods. Really. I will fix the signatures tonoght then youcan add what you want to it.

Random images? They are there just scroll down. So are the comments, and people viewing and latest entries. If you want I can even turn on ratings.

Yo, dawgs, wazzup dat spizzle? Natz bein down wit ma homes cuz the spin ain't on my 411. Gotta fro my tude, else blinchickie's wanna wap what it's all about. Ja gitted? Way!

Jorge, you deserve some rest, ya done an incredible shift migrating all that stuff!

Give me some admin rights in the meantime, and I'll do the following tweaks on the Gallery:

1. Drop the MOST POPULAR PHOTOS Section. This content is and will be rather static, not much change there. And if someone wants to look it up still, it's available via "Recent Photos" - "all" - sort by Views/descending. Voilà. No point in reserving that much valuable space on the page for what is available via simple two-click query.

2. Fill the freed-up space with at least 3 lines of Random Images. Loads of good stuff coming up there, much more inspiring than MOST POPULAR PHOTOS.

3. Make Section "RECENT COMMENTS" back-trackable just like in Coppermine, where you can track back the discussion of photos all the way back. I like this feature cause it reveals what photos folks are talking about and so.

4. Drop the TOP POSTERS and the STATISTICS. Quantity isn't any relevant measure really. And: Don't we have enough statistics in this world ...

5. On photo level, reinstall the layout of the original gallery. Field layout (camera, lens, film, location etc) and photo size was just about right there.

Okok I'll stop now - you're da big cheese here, and I'm just a happy visitor enjoying the gallery, and that's what I'll continue to do, no matter what future improvements may come.

Thanks Jorge!
Cheers Gerold

I screwed it up. I forgot to import the settings like camera, exposure etc ...
Maybe you guys can add the info again. But. It does not look like I will be changing anything else now. Its integrated with the forum and looks really good.

The new Gallery looks fabulous! :D

It is a shame that no pictures have any info such as lenses, film, exposure, etc.

I even tried editing the few that I've uploaded so far (phew); there is absolutely no way to edit the "Additional Info" once the picture has been uploaded. Is there a workaround other than doing this from scratch again?

I bet i could put junk in there and then that could be edited. I will try that tonoght

Wazzup that dizzle? It has been a mild ironic reminder that this is still an English speaking list, and that it could be understand as impolite behaviour to use the mother language by those who do not speak it. Ja gitted ?

In the mean time, I think better let you guys finish the gallery before I do anything to my albums. Thanks Jorge anyway. :)

Thanks for the new gallery. Migrations mean a lot of work.

May I add one suggestion? This would have been a nice occasion to limit the number of possible updates per day. With the actual setup it encourages you to load ten images at one time which almost fills the recent uploads window.
I still vote for more quality than quantity.

Just my 5 cents.

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for your ongoing efforts to improve the gallery! I don't know about others, but I do miss the details of camera, film, lens -- oddly, this picture has the info but I don't see it appearing anywhere else

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=9967

Also the smaller image size (click to view larger) makes for faster downloading but I did like when more of the real estate was devoted to the photos. Or maybe I just would like to know what size to save my pics as? Seems cumbersome to click on everything for a full view.

Hope I don't sound ungrateful! I do enjoy seeing the number of views, comments, the sorting features are back and improved.

Jorge, this is a huge amount of work you're doing lately with the gallery migration and tune up, thanks a bunch for all your effort man !!! And forgive us if sometimes we're like a pita, we're users after all :D

I really like the new gallery and how it is integrated into the forum. I hope you guys enjoy it.

One thing. Should I watermark the pictures? Once its done it cannot be undone.

I love the new gallery!

I just posted a picture to the monthly photo project, though, and none of the camera/lens/film information shows up. That's too bad because this is some of the most interesting information in the gallery!
