"The Grinch who stole parliament"

Is it sort of like how things were done earlier - the Liberals supported motions from the Conservatives up until Harper decided to call an election? Or is it something more than this - the Blocs participation in the "coalition"?

The arista 400 is 200? I shot a roll of arista 400 and a roll of K tmax 400 and was thinking my photos came out overexposed and pale as in your photo NH3 with the arista,..i don't think the arista film is Ktmax at all, won't be ordering anymore either, after the exchange rate, duties, shipping, just isn't worth the dollars.

**Just realized NH3 was shooting arista 2,,i have the 2 and havn't shot any yet,the arista premium
i exposed at 400 and the tmax also at 400 and developed in the same tank with rodinal and
these 2 films are not the same, the tmax looks great and the arista p is pale as in your photo above,
seems to me they skipped a step or 2 in the manufacturing of the premium.
Oh and about the politics,,looks like ignatieff will be our dear leader,,hey not one shot fired and
we'll have our dictator.

Arista2 400 is Agfa APX 400. This film is actually ISO 200 and when you push it with Rodinal its a little tricky. For example in this shot the sky is blown but the shadows are still dark.

I don't follow politics but I think Liberal-NDP seats were not enough so they needed support from Bloc to form a coalition government, but Bloc will not have any cabinet ministers or veto power in the coalition government.

whatever

whatever

I don't care how they get rid of harper, just do it. I don't think the coalition is necessarily a bad idea, but I think it is a bad political move for whoever assumes control of it (presumably igi) as they're in a mess now and won't come out of it looking good, then when a real election roles around they'll get slaughtered because everyone will say "O, they were the guys in power when the economy sucked". Just like what happened to Ray in Ontario, the crash wasn't his fault, he was just in power at the time so he got skewered for it.

The picture is funny but ya it looks underdeveloped and overexposed.

thats true

thats true

More than a third of the province is covered in forest. No real mountains, though.

That's true. Ya alberta is REALLY boring, in more ways than one. Believe me I'm studying there. Until you reach the mountains of course, awesome there.

Arista2 400 @ 800 + Rodinal.

I'm posting this picture for critique. this was taken during a rally to support a coalition government and give Harper the boot.

I like this picture and I find it funny.

Hi,

I can't see anything in the way of black here - medium to dark gray at most. For that level of gray, there is to little detail in my view (e.g. the hats of the people up front). The image you show leaves me wondering whether the neg is severely underexposed or is it just a poor scan?

well, the only merit of the photo is the funny sign. But actually that's the merit of the one that made the funny sign...
the rest, people backwards to the photographer, some boring sky with regular buildings... at least nothing detracts the attention from the sigh eh?:)

I think it could do with more contrast and a bit of a crop (drop the left 1/4 of the frame and some of the sky).

It's a two-party coalition with support from the Bloc. They are not IN the coalition.
I would support anything to get rid of that two-faced weasel Harper. I was one of the MAJORITY of Canadians who did NOT vote for him.
The photo is not worth discussing.

I agree with you about the photo, but not your view on the Bloc and its influence on the proposed coalition. Your view on supporting anything ---- even anti-democratic processes --- to get rid of a democratically elected leader is too radical for me.

hmm

hmm

Well considering Harper only has a minority so nothing will ever get done, and the majority did not vote for him, it actually makes more democratic and common sense to form a coalition, in fact that's how most democracies function. If we had proportional representation (again like most democratic countries do) we would hardly ever see a majority in power and coalitions would be the norm. I agree the bloc is unfair though, considering the NDP got almost twice the pop vote of the bloc and the bloc literally has more than twice the NDP seats, doesn't make any sense. We shouldn't have to "vote strategically" as the current system necessitates we must if we want to keep oil company favouring, bush cronies like harper out of power.

It's blatantly hypocritical that Steven Harper saw nothing undemocratic in forming a voting coalition/alliance with the same Bloc party a few years ago when he brought down the minority Liberals under Paul Martin to get himself elected as PM. But this is politics, and just as with religion, our personal biases flavour our perceptions.

Frank, there is a considerable different between a voting coalition on a single vote on a piece of legislation and this situation.

I've edited my post. This is not the forum for political disagreement.

You are correct Thomas, there is a difference in the 2 situations.

For me over developing seems to produce these types of results ... low contrast and a photograph that appears to be all mid tones. If you're developing these yourself try backing off the time by 20% and agitating less. I think from memory this is the film that's supposed to be the same as Tri-X and I develop the Kodak in 1+1 Xtol for 8 minutes with ten seconds initial agitation and two very gentle inversions per minute there after. Prior to this I had been getting a lot of shots that look like your examples! :)

Wow! i was thinking the exact same,i stand developed in Rodinal 1+100 for 1 hour and i was agitating for what i thought was overdoing every minute for the first 5 minutes then letting just stand develop with one agitation after 30 minutes.i tried posting larger photos,,they look very three dimensional just quite pale.
Thanks for the thoughts,i may have tried something totally different, was thinking 45 minutes and not agitating at all.
I'm new to rodinal and this was my first go.
Thank you Keith.

Got this thread - Rodinal 1:100 - you will learn more about Rodinal then you ever wanted to.

The formula for stand developing Tri-X EI 400 in Rodinal 1:100 is 500ml, slow inversions for the first minute and do not touch for 59 minutes.
