I'm actually near the end of the parting out of a nice collection of old Japanese rangefinders. I found that the more cameras I had, the less I tended to use them. The display case mentality took over to some extent - the Olympus DC and SP will be the next and last to go and I will hang onto the last four.

They're all great cameras to own and use!

Mmmm, Olympus 35SP.. One of my favorites.. Great 7 elements lens... and I already think in EV values so... mmmm
 
I've set it aside for a gentleman who has bought several cameras from me - if he decides he wants it, he's paying $105 for it. Very good condition - spot meter is functional, etc. If he decides against it, drop me an email and I will let you know.

I do love the SP, but I'm trying to show some discipline towards my original plan and that meant keeping just one of the Olympus cameras. As it happens, the 35RD is too near and dear for me to even consider giving up, so the SP and the DC finds themselves up for adoption.

I plan on having the RD and S1.6 buried with me when I kick off. (Heaven - lots of clouds - I figure I'll bring those two cameras, some black and white film and a few filters and that will pass eternity. You can buy film in heaven, right?)

This is a partial list - just looking around my apartment just now. Does *not* include various SLR systems, such as Bronica C (2 complete systems) or Canon / Minolta 35 SLR systems (SRT-101, FX, FTbN). And the one that started me down this path - Yashica 635 TLR.

I try to shoot all of them, not just sit them on a shelf. I am being forced by necessity to learn to fix some few things - I'm not very good with my hands, but I did manage to fix the shutter/aperture blades on a Konica Auto S2 last night (going shooting it today).

My favorites so far:

Cutest - most fun: Braun Super Paxette, hands down. Just *so* cute and fun!

Most pocketable: Olympus XA. Sharp lens, too!

Best image quality: 35mm - Yashica Electro 35 GSN. 120 - Fujica G690 - WOWZER!

The one I reach for the most often? A Paxette. Either that, or a Canon FX with 50mm 1.4 lens. Incredible camera. Easiest MLU I've ever used, which I tend to make use of if I'm using a tripod at all.

Of course, there are the digitals - Nikon 995 and Olympus C-40Z.

If my apartment was on fire and I had to run for it and could only save ONE camera - the Fujica G690. Most 3D images I've ever seen, bar none. Best camera I own, period.

Wish list: Canon P, more lenses for Diax, Canon F1 (old). More lenses for Fujica G690 (I only have the standard 100/3.5).

Whew! I *am* outta control! Would you believe most of these were collected in the past year alone? Only the Yashica 635 TLR has been with me more than that.

Thanks for the kind words, but I personally believe quality is better than quantity, so I'd have to say there are several people in our group I'd look up to myself. Anyone with a Leica, Olympus SP, Canonet Glll QL-17, or lots of Zeiss would definitely get my vote.

Ensign Commando (rarely used)
Plaubel Makina 67 (frequently used, I'd like a W67 as well - anybody selling?)
MPP Micro-Technical 4x5 (yes, it has a coupled rangefinder, and it's fun to use like that)
Mamiya Press Super 23 (50, 75, 100/2,8 and 150)
Mamiya Press Universal
M6 0.72 (was my everyday camera until I got the M7)
M6 0.85 (one of the few made before the TTL came along)
M7 0.72 (my everyday camera)

I've sold my M2 and Minolta CLE (I regret buying the CLE).

Wow, Helen, nice equipment! The Makina 67, that's pretty rare and expensive! And the MPP Technical is very sweet. Why do you regret having bought the CLE?

HelenB, in regards to the Plaubel (yes, I want one as well..) you may find this interesting, just a day or so old news:

Not sure if the 55mm lens is the W or not.

Great looking camera that Plaubel Makina 67. The high price and fear of very costly repairs (tongs, etc) have kept me away though.
 
Thanks for that - I'm following it up. The 55 mm lens is the one on the W67.

Yes, expensive repairs are a risk - but having used the 67 for six years now it's one I'm happy to run.

Bill, that's some collection you have there! The CLE? The lack of sensible manual metering was a big drawback in my opinion (I used it with Kodachrome 64 almost exclusively, and bracketing was not a viable option for a few reaasons). Not even exposure lock. Why did they leave that out? The Minolta rep told me that it was going to be fixed in the CLE2 - but sales never justified continued production.

Not so much a collection as a whole lot of junk with a few 'keepers' mixed in. I could sell the whole lot and not be able to buy one of your Leicas!

Nice equipment Helen, and welcome to the group. Bill, I loved those photos! Looks a lot like my computer room most days. Nice to know I'm not the only one to receive orders from "She who must be obeyed". Curt.
 
Welcome Helen! Nice group of clickers! I still have my M2 and my CLE, but then I've never had an M6 or M7. If my CLE ever broke irreparably, an M7 would be welcome to take its place!

The CLE lack of metered manual mode has never bothered me, and of course the M2 "suffers" the same lack. Both work fine on manual with a handheld incident meter. 🙂

But then I have to admit I nearly always leave the CLE on auto anyway with fine results. But then I use only neg film. This is a favorite camera, compact, discreet in appearance, quick in action, and the 40mm lens is outstanding.

You seem to be at least as much into larger formats as 35mm cameras... When would you take the Makina out, for instance, and when the Leica?
