To no surprise, a question of this type is going to generate a bunch of answers that say nothing except the personal preferences of the posters.
What is the best make of car? What is the best brand of camera?

The recommendations of others can help me narrow down my choices,
or make me aware of products I didn't know about.

What's wrong with that?

Lowepro Top Load Zoom 1. Enough room for:

Epson R-D1
Bessa T or R2S (no lens mounted, fits in the bottom)
2 rolls of film
40mm Nokton mounted on the R-D1
Finders in the filter pocket

21mm Color-Skopar
75mm Color-Heliar
12mm Ultra-wide Heliar

All in the front pocket

Strap long enough so that I can wear it across my body

A bit of faffing around required changing lenses but does the job

If I want to carry an exotic 50 as well as my other lenses the bag goes on my Tamrac belt that has two medium lens cases and body case that fits a lensless Bessa like a glove.

When you consider that it barely used to take my (D)SLR plus two prosumer zooms its a surprisingly spacious rangefinder bag...

I have the Contax G system bag...I carry my G1 + 35mm mounted on the camera + film a TLA 140 Flash and the 21mm in its case..+ handheld meter.

It has room to spare and the quality of the bag is the best I have seen. The leather is silky smooth and the inside is molefur, the only downside is my camera is so comfortable he rarely wants to come out.

I have a Roots Sling Camera bag. Its almost perfect. It's small and it can carry one RF body plus all my RF lenses. Its quite an amazing little thing but it looks like a purse. I also bought a Hadley Large insert to put in my regular day bag which is a big rugged messenger type bag made from saddle leather. I don't like using the insert very much it because it is so deep and it didn't come with enough dividers.

Lately I've been wanting a bigger backpack type bag. I'm interested in the big Giottos LeFoto canvas backpack but I can't find anybody that carries the Giottos LeFoto line. Here's a link:

I've been using an olive drab Domke 803 satchel for years. The bag came with an square opening insert that holds a lens or two. I added a rectangular insert to hold my RD1. I padded this insert with generous amounts of foam to give the camera a very soft nest to ride within. The front pockets carry the extra batteries (and flash if needed), filters, and little things. The top zipper pockets are for the sd cards (left side for unused -- full ones go into the right side). The slot on the back is great for paperbacks, notebooks, or sandwiches.

I Just got a Domke F6 in Olive Canvas, it looks like something you might have bought in a surplus store, It seems like its built to survive WW3 and is prefectly dimentioned for my needs.

I have a couple of nice Billinghams, the smaller one holds all my Voigtlander stuff, currently. Two R's, Two L's with lenses, plus the rest of my lenses/stuff. My big Billingham has extra add-on pockets, and holds -most- of my SRT stuff. It's really heavy when fully loaded.

I have three or four of the Domke F2 bags, those are good, too. And a smaller Domke (about 1/2 the size of the F2) which is also good. For street shooting I picked up a Swiss Army Medical Bag at the Army Surplus Store. Good for stealth shooting.

on a 1 camera day I use a Domke 5XB room for a body with a small lens attached, and two more divider spaces for lenses of any size [50/1.5 or 90mm ] room for film

I also like the DOMKE little bit smaller F6 It holds three bodies and lenses, and best is a large fipper pouch that holds a ton of film with room for a flash IF you really want one....

4 Million Dollar Home by Crumpler... fits 1 body, 2 lenses, film & compact flash. Looks like any regular man-purse.

Lowepro Omni Traveler

Lowepro Omni Traveler

Has anyone here tried a Lowepro Omni Traveler? I was looking at one in a camera store recently and rather liked its thinner design. Can hold a fair bit of gear. Looking for opinions on it.

Back up on the link to www.giottos.com, the home page, for the distributor's address and phone. His site, http://www.hpmarketingcorp.com/ , will tell you the US dealers. You need to enter your state. They're great looking bags.

Hi Tidelands,

I'm in Canada and I contacted the Canadian distributor. He responded to me and said that they do import those bags to Canada.
