I was looking over some results from a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains last December. I mainly used a Bessa T with a CV 25mm/4 lens and Fujicolor 200 film. The Dell UltraSharp monitor shows the images very clear, with beautiful contrast and sharpness from the Cv 25mm/4 lens. The Combo (Bessa T + CV 25mm/4) is quite light and compact, at a very reasonable cost.

Here are five smaller images, along with a link for additional larger photos from that trip.

Nice job Raid. I had that lens for awhile, sold it, and regretted it. I now have the new M pancake version and use it all the time on my M8. It's a wonderful lens. Enjoy!

This is a thread on the CV 25mm/4 lens, so if you have any photos taken by this lens, please post them here.

Hi Raid, I too had one and sold it. I was lucky enough to get a Leica 21mm f2.8 Elmarit for less than the CV 21mm owed me. I had to sell it to pay for the Elmarit, which I don't regret but, the CV is a 1/3 of the size and weight and at f4 there's nothing between them. I'm sure that if CV coupled the 15 and the 12mm's like the 21mm they'd sell far more, IMHO anyway. Cheers Andrew.

the more i play with the cv lens group the more i wonder why most of us don't use them all.
if your a so-so shooter you wouldn't notice the slight difference between the cv and the other way more expensive glass out there and if you're a good shooter, the lenses don't get in the way at all and offer 95% of the quality at 1/3 the price.

Hi Andrew,

I wouldn't mind getting a 21mm Elamrit for a good price plus trade, but the "old" CV 25mm/4 rocks. I hesitate going wider than the 21mm lens for day to day photography. It becomes a speciality case for me then. I would then use my Canon FD 7.5mm and 17mm lenses with an adapter.

Greetings,
Raid

Joe,

CV lenses don't have that hand made look as the Leica lenses do.

Raid, as far as I can tell, there is no difference between the two CV lenses. I have the Zeiss 25/2.8 as well, and I can say that the CV lens is not that far behind in terms of image quality. I purchased the CV just to have a more compact walk-around kit.

I never really loved my Elmarit 21/2.8, it just was too something. I sold it for twice what I paid for it years ago and was very happy with it as an investment.

I've been in love with my 25/4 from the day I got it. I love it so much I got one for my Nikon RF too! I carry my LTM on a Bessa L and love it. IMHO, a black Bessa L and a 25/4 and you have the perfect street camera/lens combo. It also works great for hiking as it is light weight and sharp as a tack.

my friends can't tell the difference.

they're more impressed with my new car!

What's your new car, Joe?
As for friends, few of my friends know a lot about cameras or photography.

Keith,

If the CV is close to the Zeiss, then this is a huge compliment for the CV.
Its size is a major factor to get one, in my opinion. There, it is hard to beat.

Bill,

My Bessa L is chrome and so is my Bessa T.
I seem to have drifted off to 50mm lenses. I now have about 10 such lenses in LTM. Somehow, I am fascinated by 50mm lenses. They are classy.

I never got into 50mm lenses till I ended up with an S2. Now I have a 25/4 CV and two Nikkors 50/1.4 & 105/2.5 that have be quite happy. On my M6 kit I guess I should not be that surprised as I have a 40/1.4 CV and love it.

There is more to them that I thought, but given just one lens, for me it would be the 25/4 CV.

Hi Raid, the 21mm Elamrit is a great lens, but it's very big in comparrison to the CV; it's a bit longer than a 50mm Gen III Summicron and has a 60mm filter. Having the f2.8 over the f 4.0 is great and there is really no disernable vignetting. It has now well and trully cost me the correct price for a Leica 21mm. Last summer I was out for a walk with the 21mm on my M6 with no lens cap and you guessed it, 2 nice holes burnt through my shutter cutains! $500 later for a new set and my 21mm is no longer a cheap lens.
Cheers Andrew

nothing fancy raid, it's a 2004 chrysler sebring.

as for our friends, my meaning was that it's really us that we have these expensive toys and for the purpose of making images the cv and the leicas and the zeiss glass all do much the same job.

i love my zeiss ikon and the zeiss lenses, they ooze quality and fineness.

but the r4 and it's cv family of glass also feel great in use and they also mark a historic beat for me in that they are small and light and quick to use...all the reasons i picked rangefinders in the first place.
