My God, this guy is incredible. I saw at least two Luxus Leicas, god knows how many Contaxes and IIIfs and IIfs and Daguerreotype cameras and photos -- Dag portraits from the 1840s, Ansel Adams and Bourke-White originals, actually originals of EVERYTHING you can imagine, Cirkut prints, unopened packs of "high speed" glass plates from the 1800s -- and original Edgerton equipment and spy cameras and a 4' long lens and a 12 inch wide lens and...

The only thing I didn't see were digital backs, or for that matter very much digital at all. A true traditionalist. A really incredible guy to talk to, as well 🙂

I have seen both Jacks first and second (current) collection. His climate controlled basement houses an insane amount of material. The rarest of the rare is there and it is simply overwhelming to see in person. Jack is a true gentleman.

The sad part is that it's going to be auctioned off.

If I were a serious camera collector, I would absolutely get in touch with Jack and book an airplane ticket to Boston. Fortunately I'm just a student living in Boston who's lucky enough to land a job that got me to the Naylor collection! 🙂

She is working on Mr. Naylor's obituary. 🙁
