I spent many years cycling through different equipment. Some of it was the fondler/collector in me, but I also wanted to experience different ways of doing things. I now know first hand about the silky focusing of the Contarex, or how the microprism of the Leicaflex just snaps into focus, or how the tele-elmarit is soft wide open, ect., ect., ect.
I've now moved on to different films, and am having a blast just trying the different products and brands and see how they differ. We are fortunate to have such a wide selection.
I suppose the digital equivalent is using different makes of lenses on the camera.
It's fun using the different films. It's one thing to read about the differences from other users, but I always find first hand experience most satisfying.
