Jorge, it must seem that we're an ungrateful bunch! I can't imagine how disappointed and annoyed you must be feeling by now because of all our complaining and whining of the past few weeks.
I think I speak for all when I say that we really do appreciate everything you do for us, and all the new things you're putting together for this site. It's difficult to please everyone, especially when it comes to setting rules and guidelines. Maybe we should have a vote or, at least, some discussion about the rules. And probably offering rule suggestions one-by-one would be the way to go; that way we can get adjusted to 1 rule at a time. It seems we can't handle much moe than that. 🙂

i think we have been handling ourselves pretty well to date.
we have discussed what is ok and not ok and most have abided by the consensus and some have moved on.
the main thing is that the generous spirit of this forum has been our guiding light and we have established and, more importantly, maintained a civil, kind and comfortable forum for all who choose to stay and participate.
i like this place and i'm not alone in that.

For putting up with us and for changing back the rules before I even put a picture in the gallery 🙂
I offered some of those rangfinder thingys on another thread for those in panic to convert the whatever camera to a rangefinder

You guys figure out ANY guidelines for posting images and I'll do my best to abide by them. This is a great forum and gallery. You don't ever have to worry about me posting nudes of myself. However, I might do some posting whilst nude. Good thing I don't own a web cam!

Sorry Jorge, maybe a stupid question but I feel a bit confsused now.
Reading the new rules I see there is no restriction at all excepted the nudity rule, which makes sense to me btw.
If there are no other rules that means RFF admits all kind of pics, no matter which camera or medium is used ? From pinhole to phonecam so to say ?
Even if this is meant I would not have a serious prob as long as the non RF stuff is not more than a peripheral add-on issue for the RF community, always conected to members shooting RF AND other equipment.
But if we should have a situation at the end where half of the members shoot SLR and zooms or DSLR and zooms or digital P&S only this forum would not make sense to me any longer, what I would deeply regret.
Let me add a last clear word about my understanding of rules, i want to avoid any misunderstanding about my intentions:
Rules a re not a fetish for me, nor do I love them because of my schoolmasterish mind. But they are the only protection to keep a forum beeing what it was planned to be, an attractive meeting point for a certain group of photographers, using a niche technology.
Difficult enuff to keep the intended direction even with rules and defending them again and again, because there are a lot of folks who don't give a damn on any rules. But if you open the door completely I have doubts that the RFF will stay what it is, the best RF gallery in the web AFAIK.
The forum's capablity of self-purification on which some of us count is simply an illusion, this has never ever worked before.

we might be living under an illusion but it DOES seem to be working while many rule based forums are more like a circus or worse.
this is a site for rangefinder enthusiasts, i imagine it will stay that way. my philosophy has been to allow all, tlr,slr,digital, within common sense moderation. most here have other photographic interests that they like to share with cyber friends.
i think it ironic, interesting at least, that i am one of the few here that shoot with only rangefinders, (not counting my digital toy- i do not own medium format of any kind, no tlr, no slr, nothing but rf cams) and i seem to have the least issues with being tolerant of others.
this issue is over for now, please let it rest.
