If, your cat always lands on it's feet..............You're not throwing it right!
One of the biggest factors in all this (a factor I have yet to see) is...Does the cat know what's going on???
The cat/cats can have no clue as to what you're doing "Feet vs. Buttered Toast"...
If, and this is a big if, the cat knows he/she could allow the toast to hit first and really screw with you...

I was, in fact, postulating an antigravity cat as opposed to a simple transitory equilibrium ... by the way, if the cat's called Marmalade one needs to introduce the conserve variable.
if it were Schrödinger's cat then, obviously, it would land both on it's feet and on it's back at the same time .... well, as long as no one's looking that is, well, unless whoever is looking is in a box so that no one can see if he's looking or not .... well, ...
Been walking around Manhattan pondering this issue. All the skyscrapers led to an epiphany --- could it be that if the distance to the ground is high enough, on impact, the cat will BE toast!!!
