I have a SS M3, # over 1M and DR Summicron that I purchased from the original purchaser's estate many many years ago.
While the combination is certainly capable of holding its own with any film camera/lens or FX camera/lens combination, there are other combinations that are as good or better.
My current favorite is the M7/35mm Lux ASPH which I use for about 80% of my work. Its faster, both the camera and the lens, the 35mm covers what I shoot much better than the 50mm and its sharp and contrasty, which I like.
But in the end, its really the photographer that makes the picture, not the camera/lens combination.
BTW, by the mid 1960's, almost no one doing photojournalism for daily papers and such used thier M's, the Nikon F reigned supreme.-Dick
