The Leica M8 in Central Park

Hello,
Well, I was going to spend the morning going through the "banding" threads but then I thought, maybe there is something outside I could shoot! 🙂

So, up at 6:11 am and out the door. The M8 makes you do funny things, like lose sleep.

Here are my attempts:

I should post the full size shots somewhere, they're much more impressive than the scaled down versions.

I'm happy with the colors straight out of the camera, I really didn't do much to these photos except sharpen them a little bit. These were all taken with the 35mm 1.4 ASPH, or maybe the 50mm 14 ASPH in a couple.

My wife is amazed by the initial results and that makes me happy. 🙂

Which shop did you get your M8 from?!? Photo Village said ups failed to show up yesterday with their allotment. Needless to say, that news did not make me a happy camper...

I got my camera from Tamarkin. I'm sorry for the people who didn't get their cameras. It is funny, in some ways, I miss having the wait, if that makes any sense. Now that I have the camera, I have to do something with it!

I'm glad you guys liked some of my shots. Yeah, the Park is stunning right now, maybe a little past peak! It makes me feel good to be able to share that beauty with other people, especially those people who aren't in New York. Tomorrow is the marathon, that should be fun..

Yes, we should have an M8 gathering at some point! I look forward to seeing other people's shots from the camera. Let us know when you get yours...

Looks like I'll be in the Park tomorrow with the M8. I'm picking it up around ten thiry-ish, so I figure I'll spend the afternoon in the North Woods. I live in Spanish Harlem, so I'm hoping there's a street festival or religious procession on the horizon that I can shoot as well. I 've got the week off, (the joys of freelancing), so I plan on spending it getting acquainted.

Larry, are there any events coming up that you know about?

Hey Grant,
Enjoy the new camera! Did you get the black or the chrome one? This should be a nice week to shoot, although I think it might rain tomorrow afternoon. It is supposed to get into the upper 60s later in the week. Lucky you to have so much time off.

I don't really know of any upcoming events. Of course, there is Thanksgiving. I have frozen at that parade a couple of times. That would be a good test of the M8. I'm afraid that we're going to be facing the cold, dark days of winter soon. 🙁

I have a chrome Ikon, so I went for the black M8. In my experiance, the chrome just gets a lot of attention, even when it is simply hanging off of my shoulder. If it rains, I'll just go to the Met and shoot there. I also want to see how it handles night photography, so hopefully the rain comes in fits instead of a continuous downpour.
