Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I just like to share my effort in self publishing my first photo book, "The Light Gatherer". It was originally intended to supplement my entries in a group photo exhibition I participated in New York. Many of the images were already posted in this forum before.

A fellow photographer and vintage camera buff, Michael Connealy, was kind enough to write a very good review of the book in his blog.

Please let me know what you think. Thank you very much.

Amazing shots, I can feel all the hours spent on taking the images, selecting them, culling to have only the best! You have a real winner here.

I especially liked the pairing of photos on facing pages - very subtle, each giving energy to the other. Good work.

The double page spreads are particularly effective and a great feature in the book. I like the b&w and colour pictures in their own sections. You must have had a reason for some tinted pages and where placed in the book. Similarly I noticed many of the colour pictures were the same format and approximately the same size whilst the b&w photos showed more variation. I would have liked to know a bit about the photographer and something of the locations used but having said all that I thought the standard of photographs, their selection and pairing were super and showed that a lot of time and effort had been put into the book.
I am trying to be helpful as well as appreciative. At present I'm struggling with a Blurb book of my own!

Absolutely great title for a book of photos & a wonderful collection of well crafted images.
Enjoyed your choice of a double image layout. Your photos worked very well in this format.

I really enjoyed looking through your book Norman. There are some excellent photographs that have the strength to stand alone but some real thought and care has given, as tomtofa says, a really subtle but very effective flow throughout the book.

Thank you everyone for the very good and kind comments. It made my efforts worthwhile. I really appreciate it.

Jesse, I send my color film to a local CVS pharmacy for processing, unfortunately they can only process 35mm film format aside from digital. For black and white on the other hand I process the film myself so I can shoot both 35mm and medium format.
The images are not displayed chronologically. I originally put captions under each image but decided in the end to let them speak for themselves and let the viewers have their own interpretations

Thank you for the keen observations.

Warm regards,
Norman

Norman, count me in as an admirer.
A very well put together book.

I think self-publishing has opened a lot of doors for very talented (and diligent) photographers who don't have the necessary connection with publishers.

@ Norman --- An enjoyable browse through some very impressive photography, particularly the black and white work.
Well done and well presented !
