For weeks now I've been snivelling pathetically over the loss of a beautiful FED 1 and 2, sent to Oleg for a CLA.

Five minutes ago I got this e-mail -

Hello Ian,
Parcel arrived today!
You sent it 19 Oct and it reach me today with many stamps of ZAMBIA
services.... Airport sorting office. Lusaka, Zambia! 3 Jan parcel was
in Zambia!
Wow... Central Africa!
But now parcel here..... Hope it's a good news for you...
Sincerely,
Oleg

Damn that means theres some Zamibian (?) wandering round with a FED3b and a early FED 1 with a 5 eye viewfinder :(

I'm waiting a package from USA for a loooooooong time alreade, and starting to lost the hope to get these lovely Clarus MS-35 and Kodak 35RF :(
Maybe my package is also going through the Zambian Post now? Hope cameras won't be damaged by the hot African sun? :)

Hey Joe,

What's with the ZI - have you gotten it yet or do we have to send you to Zambia to pick it up? :D

Regards,
George

This is why I am reluctant to send my Certo6 to Oleg, it is not a camera exactly easily replaceable.

Unfortunately I still have to find someone in the UK that can service them, I think the beam splitter mirror needs replacing, and the RF needs to be recalibrated.

Glad your camera's arrived, I send Oleg a Kiev 4M on Dec.16 and it has not reached him as of today, he told me about the package that went to Zimbia before it got to him.
Problem with shipment from the US is you have to wait 60 days before the post office will put a tracer on it because it's a international shipment.
Hope mine will get to him soon and didn't take the scenic route to get to him.

On the bright side - Oleg is building one heck of a stamp collection! :)

Wait a minute!! .............. Doesn't joe live on Zambia Ave.?
CVBLZ4,

You're "Braids"!

Until just a few days ago you were just behind me in the Gallery (Co trumps CV ! :D ). Now I see someone else has uploaded "in between" us.

I enjoy all of your pics but "Braids" is extra special.

She is a beautiful young woman - and she projects such confidence and poise - as only a youngster can.

She reminds me a lot of my favorite niece (now 17 y.o.) who projects a similar "brassy but cute" self-confidence.

Great shot. It says so much. Which is why one of the posts here tonight that thought every pic should have commentary and context is wrong.

Regards,
George

Ha! Well said... a good description of my braids girl. She spent some time with us this summer, and her brassy-but-cute-self-confidence put about 512 new gray hairs on my head. Thanks for the great encouragement!

i'm a long way from any part of africa as the cold winds will testify to.

i'm thinking the camera will be here in my sweaty little palms by wednesday.

if not...send for the mounties;)
