Ooooops, soon we end with 12 participants and today is only 6-Jan. Nice propaganda we are doing. I see gorgeous family photos.

I'm with you, Pitxu. There is a point system set up, but it doesn't make sense to me how it will technically work.

That's why I wanted to know your opinions on rule 7 - see post #22.

We have 3 options, one of which is not feasible due to technical limitation:
1. poll (limited to 12 participants)
2. point system (see rule 7): each voter ranks his 3 favorite pictures and posts a message in the following form:
picture # x = 3 pts
picture # y = 2 pts
picture # z = 1 pt
We- Nzeeman and I - take on the addition part and make the total sum; Excel sheet is a convenient tool for that.
3. last option: voting in the January Salon where we store the pictures. See the January Salon which Stephen G. renamed January 2008 Salon -- Magic Roll.
Again, thanks Stephen for your support and your help.

First option is not feasible if the limit of 12 participants is exceeded.

Now, what's your opinion on the last 2 options? We can test one of them this month and the other one next month (Nzeeman's suggestion); we see which works the best and we make it definitive.

I like option 3. Complexity discourages participation. Option 2 seems too complex.

Thanks Sitemistic for sharing your opinion.
Nzeeman and I share the same fear about option 2, though the point system is theoretically a better one.
So we can test option 3 this month, and if it's a success, we keep it.

...and just to recap for thickos like me, the competition is open to all RFF members. If I can sort out a suitable snap in time I will submit via email to - magic.rffcontest [at] gmail.com by 25th Jan & vote for my fave 3 on, or after, that date.

Am I right, sir?

Sir, yes, sir 🙂

Any change in the voting system will be clearly announced.

Due to upload limitation, we can only upload 3 pictures per day. So don't worry, if you don't see you picture in the gallery yet, it's coming.

Last issue: if 2 pictures or more get the same number of votes, how will we decide the winning one? Hope this issue does not occur but we never know.

Cheers.

I vote for option #3. Excellent and easy

My proposal: If 2 pics have same scores, then we have two winners

I like option #3. Stephen went to the trouble to make the forum gallery for us, so why not use it. Voting in the gallery I think will kill the anonymity part but I didn't care for that anyhow. Like Nico said, we are big boys & girls, (yes Jon I think we should allow women voters)😀 & I don't think anyone will be offended. I don't get offended when one of my photos doesn't get picked in the pick of the week gallery on Mondays. It just makes me strive to want to make better photos and set new goals so that one day mine will be picked.

So to clarify things sense we are going to try #3 this month. Is the voting still the same? Using the point system. Comment on a photo by rating it a 1,2, or 3? Or by going in, voting, and the most comments at the end of month wins?

You are going to have a problem if you get more than 3 submissions on the last day (24th) Voting starts on 25th? Marc I think you will need to have a cut off period before the 25th so that all the photos can be uploaded.
