Nice little feature on Joe Cornish and David Ward using LF gear to take shots of the UK that attract the tourists to our shores. A bit chocolate-boxy perhaps but rather good in their own right.

There is a brief shot of what looks like a rangefinder (Xpan?) at one point.

Wonderful!

I smiled at the part where the reporter said: "Heavy Victorian Technology"
That's what I'll start calling my 5x7 camera now... :)

Nice to actually see and hear Joe Cornish. I've been tempted to go on one of those "Light and Land" workshops.

Impressive to see LF being used for this. I was asked yesterday at a local camera club if I was interested in 'coming into the 21st century' by using digital!
Best regards,
RoyM

Actually, for the kind of pictures they're showing on the video, LF or 120 Panoramic cameras like Horseman or Fotoman would be the ideal cameras.

And those LF cameras look like metal-field type like Canham (or its British equivalent). Those are more expensive than Leica stuff ;)

I think they usually like to use Ebony ( Japan ) - wood, titanium etc. pretty light, bodies not too expensive......but lenses!
Dave.

Sorry, this is OT, but ... Well that explains it. I was wondering why I haven't yet had the urge to make the big leap into this century. Now I realize it's "by Invitation Only!!" Guess I'm stuck with my ol' no-batt mEtaL cameras. :)

I am afraid LF is out for me. Age and ill-health have caught up with me. But MF in the form of a folder, TLR and some self-assembled cameras (and a relatively light tripod) are still within reach. Oh I would love to be able to do what Joe and Dave did. As to the BBC, I hope they will do more photography features as they must be employing hundreds of good photographers with our licence fees!
