Hello again people,

As some of you know I'm a complete newbie to Rangfinders and film camera. I was wondering if you could answer me a couple of things.

Can I get a cable release for my Bessa R?

What kind of scanner should I get? Round about £150-£200 mark.

Thanks for your help and I'll post some shots in the next few days.

Sam

My standard no-name cable release works with my R2a, although it doesn't screw all the way in. I'd suggest getting a cheap one that can be exchanged/returned and try it.

As for scanners I'd say grab a film scanner rather than a flat-bed. I went with the latter and while it's fine for my MF work it's pretty painful for 35mm. I've heard that the Minolta Dual-Scans are a great value for 35mm film scanners - I'll probably pick one up myself in the new year.

Indeed. Any cable release for 35mm cameras will work. Shouldn't cost you more than $5 or so.

For scanner (I assume for scanning 35mm negs) go for a dedicated 35mm film scanner. I haven't spend any time looking into the latest offerings for years, being pretty content with my Minolta Dual Scan 3 and Epson R-D1, so I can't give you any useful info on which scanner is the finest of the bunch.
