The Nineteen Seventies

At the peak of the gas crisis:

I can tell the make and model of every car and van in that photo after 35 years ... I wouldn't know half of them in a modern version of that scene, form has followed function I suppose I expect they all have less drag and wind noise than that MGB-GT, a truly awful car in any era.

... the long dead Layla, named from the song by Deric and the Dominos ... one of the few slides I could recover when we last moved house, mildew got many thousand maybe two hundred cleaned like this one ... only a handful were untouched

So be careful not to store cardboard containers on concert floors no matter how dry they look

Congratulations on the exhibition, Lawrence, great work. Hope it's a success!

And great pictures from everybody else, too, in this thread! I especially like Lynn's shot of the boat and girl.

Unfortunately, although I do remember the Seventies quite vividly, I can't play, because I got my first camera in 1980...

Signs of the Seventies

Later this month I'm putting on a small show of my photos from the 1970s - lawrenceimpey.com - and would love to see any other photos that somehow reflect that era. Lynn put some excellent Aussie pub photos up a couple of years ago so do click here if you haven't seen them.

Just to say that the exhibition will be shown again in Spain, this time in Santiago de Compostela. The opening is on Tuesday evening so if anyone happens to be in the area, do drop in.
