Fabio, are you getting these colours with the Silverfast that comes with the scanner, an upgraded version of Silverfast, or a combination of Silverfast and Photoshop?
When will you publish your step-by-step guide on the web?

That 400H shot looks completely in line with what I would expect from this scanner. Quite good.

Pete,
I am using SilverFast Ai Studio 8 that comes with the OP 120 + Lightroom 4,
I use the negafix setting that looks "right", or close to right. Then I play with with the color wheel in SF to get as close as I can, to what I think looks right. ( I think the preview in SF is kinda crappy)
In LR I will use just white balance + HSL controls. I try to keep it simple.
I need to scan more Portra 400, the only frame I scanned of Portra 400 was the easiest so far. I need to make sure that wasn't just luck. I think once I nail a couple of color films, I may stick to those for consistency.
Thank you

As far as I'm concerned this image seals it for me: I don't need to worry about the 9000 breaking anymore - the Plustek would be a totally adequate replacement. Thanks!
Now if Portra keeps going for at least another 12 years, it'll cover the kids up to their teens - when they probably don't wanna be photographed anyway!

I don't have crops of these, but I thought I'd keep it going,
Ektachrome 200
400H
I think that for the little experience I have scanning color, and using just SF+LR, the results are encouraging, at least to me.

Mamiya 7II + 80mm + very expired 400VC
My only disappointment here, is how much dust and dirt was on the negative, this is a shot from January 1st, from a "pro" lab....
In comparison, I have re scanned stuff from RPL, AGX and NCPS that required very little clean up. ( sometimes, 3 clicks of dust cloning...)
This is expired Portra 400VC (2005), scanned at 2650 DPI, no sharpening at any stage, and some very minimal LR adjustments.

I am finding Portra 400 to be a nice & easy film to scan, specially after scanning all these old photos, dirty negatives, and even some expired film...
It sure is nice to scan some well exposed, modern film, and clean negatives!
Sorry, I don't have a crop for this one,
Cloudy day, eos 3, Tamron 24-70 VC
Silver fast and a little LR, light sharpening.

Well, after having the Plustek 120 now for some days and getting customed to the strange Silverfast quirks (Silverfast, were is the manual ? Why you don't provide a good help menu ?) i finely could compare it to my other scanners, a Nikon Coolscan IV ED and a Canon 8800F.
The results are mixed. Clearly the Plustek 120 is out of focus, my first guess is about 0,6mm. Hope that Plustek Support can solve that issue. The good thing is that when the film is brought into proper focus (with carton strips) it brings the optical performance that i wanted.
Made an image of the compare on a 35mm film with my Nikon Coolscan IV ED.

Another faulty unit.
We are at what, two, already, out of four?
I sure hope Plustek support will replace your scanner; still this level of production variations worries me.

There is a comment, somewhere in this forum, about a first batch of 35mm holders being defective. Could this be it?
It was said to have been caught and fixed before shipping to the USA.
I think Mark talked about it.
Just thinking what the problem here could be,

Only thing that i can say about the batch is that my Plustek 120 came probably from the second batch available in Germany just last week. A month ago i missed the first batch by some mere hours ;-)
Still have to make some more checks with my 6x6 holder but first impression is that the scans are also softer then expected.
