Didn't think I would be shooting 35mm again for sometime (if ever) after falling in love with the 6x7 neg of the Mamiya 7 but the OM2 (that I had dreamed of owning as a teenager) seemed to call out from the display shelf for one last film...

...and as always, an absolute dream to use.

Fantastic shots John ... impossible to pick a favourite. 🙂

"One last film!" ... surely not?

No, I think it will get a lot more use 🙂

It was weird to go back to the split image focusing though. And the 'thwump' of the mirror caught me by surprise. What I did like was the close focus and the huge viewfinder.

John;

I love when you post photos taken with your Mamiya 7 but after seeing these OM pics, it's pretty obvious that the camera is a secondary consideration. You have a great eye no matter what camera happens to be in your hands!!

Well done

Yes these are superb and just to echo what someone already has said is that these pictures are not superb because of the camera really, it's your eye. But that said, the OM system and OM2 in this case does such a remarkable job of getting out of the way so to speak and becomes an accurate tool that allows you to get what you want without faff and without fuss.

That's why I love using my OM2n's (2 of them that I have), no nonsense SLRs that produce pictures that I am always pleased with and never do I think when a picture hasn't worked out that it was down to the camera! (Ok maybe once or twice but that was a genuine shutter issue!)

Hope to see some more of your work from your OM2!

John,
Real nice work. I like them all. My favorite is the second one with the kids and puppy. Is the dog a Brussels Griffon? We have had two of this breed and they are very entertaining and smart too.
I have an OM2n also. It is becoming my favorite.

Yep. It's a Brussel Griffon and what a little charmer. Do they come much cuter? I've never been an animal person but this little guy is changing all that 🙂

I have some more pics here http://johnmcd.zenfolio.com/p964778406 He will be the most photographed pup!

Thanks you all for the kind words. It's great to get such feedback and I'm glad that you have enjoyed the images. Some pay back for all the great images from you all that I have been exposed to here over the years.

The meter is great and the big viewfinder seemed to frame up the shots so effortlessly. I have loaded up another 400 film to see if I'm on a roll. Anyway the Mamiya needed a rest...

Another from the same film. A overcast, bleak day that allowed a wide aperture - the 50/1.4 did the rest.
