I figured out how to set the AE-L button so I can to push it and release to lock exposure AND push it to unlock!
This way I can take as many shots as I want with the exposure locked. Before it would always reset after one shot, or I had to hold the button down the entire time. A simple thing to be sure, but something I am glad I finally figured out!

(I also ordered some rechargeable CR123 batteries, so my whining about battery usage is now over!)

I use metered manual exposure for this. With the dials I can quickly set the exposure and get a series of shots without locking anything.

Of course u can do that, but that takes more effort than just one little button push. Especially if you are spot metering. Point, push, done. Instead of switch to manual mode, point, adjust, wait maybe I should point it there instead, adjust..

;)

I use this AE lock function all the time now. It takes advantage of the capabilities of the camera. So if I was using manual instead, I might as well be using my FM2n
The point of this is being able to set up the camera to your liking, and this for me makes me really like it.
