As you have already pointed out the list of cons is greater than the pros but here is the important part: the IQ is unmatched by anything else I have owned or seen.
Well, if sharpness and resolution are the only attributes of IQ maybe...
not mention the other important aspect of the IQ: dynamic range.
I have never had a camera which could do this:: preserve the highlights and allow shadows to be recovered.

It's funny that you say that, because I always feel the DP2 Merrill's dynamic range is not so great. I'm used to the Fuji X series...which I feel has greater dynamic range. You did a great job though with your image.

I haven´t tested a x-trans sensor....but i´m so happty with dp2m Dynamic range it really challenges my m9...and IQ is superb, as you all know.
I´ll ask for the x-e1 from a friend of mine a i´ll see what happens in terms of DR...
I´m ok with focus speed, i set AF priority AF limit and always look for a contrasty point to foucs, i haven´t missed a single shot...it´s just as fast as focusing my m9...i prefocus then correct before shooting...this sigma has a wide angle lens (30mm) so any focus speed or accuracy relies a lot on the huge dof it has...
I´ll get myself an extra two batteries so if anyone has a clue on which battery to buy pleas post it!
Cheers!
