I started to type this into my previous thread about trading an M3 for an M6, but decided it would be better on its own....
believe it or not, I'm trying to simplify my camera collection.. I'd like to have just two camera bodies in each film size.. as it is now, I have about nine 35mm cameras, and it takes me forever to finish off a roll of film in any one of them because I like to use them all equally as much
my family used to laugh at my dad in earlier decades because he'd have a single roll of film in a camera for years.. he'd take just a couple shots at 'important events' such as holidays or birthdays.. when he finally collected 36 photos, he'd get the film developed and the results would be images spanning at least 3 years.. it was funny because you'd see the same people having several different birthday parties.. several Christmas family portraits.. all on the same roll of film
I often feel like I'm the same way, even tho I have a couple rolls of film developed each week.. but each camera might only get used for a half dozen shots in a month due to spreading out the use among so many
then there's the confusion of remembering what camera has what type of film in it.. one would have b&w, another Ektachrome, another Fuji NPS.. I usually put a piece of masking tape on the bottom plate and write the film type, but sometimes I forget.. try to remember that 4 months later and only 6 shots into the roll
my role model seems to Henry David Thoreau these days.. "Simplify, simplify, simplify."
just don't ask which cameras I'd give up.. that's like Sophie's choice.
