Im very interest in this new P&S models... Ricoh I think, dissapoint us with the new GRD...

I used to have a Ricoh GR1s - lovely body, excellent 2.8/28 lens. One of the very few cameras I ever bought new. Ultimately shutter lag and winding noise led me to sell it. The flash is useless indoors too (helps for fill-in).
But the form factor is ideal (slimmer than a film canister on 3/4 of the width) and ergonomics are fine (for an AF P&S).
If you like 28mm, don't mind the whining winding and have a bigger wallet than your pocket (they don't come cheap, even used), try one.

The bespectacled should avoid the first release (plain GR1) as it tends to scratch glasses.

Never shoot a GR1 in a church. Particularly during prayer!
Imagine how lovely the GR1 would be with the XA2`s viewfinder... (wistful sigh). I think the world looks better through it whether taking piccies or not.

No offense intended, but I'd not shoot a photograph in a church during services unless I had explicit permission from the priest or minister to do so and a good reason besides.

I almost always have a Zorki 1 with a collapsible I-50. It easily fits in my jacket pocket, or my hip pocket when I walk. It is also small enough to carry in my hand.

If I feel the need for speed, or metering, I take my Canonet QL17 GIII.

Same here, though currently with an I-22. A Summaron 35/f3.5 is on its way. For speed, I'll be adding a 50/f2.0 to my collection real soon. Metering is a small (though not tiny) hand meter. Maybe I should get the tiny Voigtländer 2 accessory shoe meter, but that's very low on my priority list.

if it is a matter of having a camera with me just it case something notable happen-the Olympus XA4(iwish I could rig abetter flash, though).

For many years a carried a Pentax MV-1 SLR with the 40/2 pancake lens..wish I still had it.

The only camera that's all ways with me is a Minox 8x11 - the LX is the best all rounder. No digital camera can yet match it for size and quality. It will easily do 8x10" prints.

While the LX does not have a range finder - it does not need one with it's 15mm lens, it has parallax correction - which is needed as it focuses down to 8".
It's so quiet and discrete which makes it very easy to take photos without getting noticed.

As far as Leica goes - the Null Series is as about as compact as it gets, and is very quick to use with a bit of practice. If only they would release that 50 Anastigmat lens in LTM.

Well, I have the XA and the RC, and I prefer the XA. The RC has its charms, and is a very diffrent feel. But for pocketability, the XA is a real winner. I had it in a little Ambico belt pouch when I went to visit another RFer today. We just visited and gabbed the afternoon away, so no shots taken. But I'll post that experience in another thread.

My pocket cam is the Ricoh GRD. Great from 64-1600. I can fit 695 pictures onto a 2GB SD card at full 8MP resolution. Full manual controls too.

The pocket camera with me all the time these days is my Rollei 35. Okay, it's not a rangefinder, but in passable to good light one can stop down enough that proper focusing is not an issue. And I do own an "uncoupled rangefinder" that I can use with it in a pinch. 😀

My pocket cam is a Minox 35 MB. It's not really a rangefinder (scale focus instead), but it takes pictures in the same spirit..

Technically, the closest thing I have to a "pocket" RF these days is a Konica S3. Had an Olympus XA, but ended up selling it to a fellow RFf'er on account of lack of use. My main pocket picture taker was (and, once fixed, shall again be) a Ricoh GR1 - AF, not RF, but wonderful nonetheless. As as "interim" pocket camera, I recently snagged a now-very-tough-to-find Konica Lexio 70 on the 'Bay, something of an underrated zoom p/s (28-70mm), which I'll also keep with me for the occasional Kodak (/Ilford?Fuji) Moment. Lens is pretty slow at 70mm (f/7.9), but I'll mostly be using it at 28mm anyway; not in the same league as the Ricoh's 28mm, but pretty good in its own right.
