I have added a new article to my blog, called "Cameras, Guns and Spies", about an incident that happened to me in Africa, back in 1987.

It got me wondering what was the most difficult situation you got into, merely by carrying a camera and how it turned out?

Scary story, it's so simple to pass from a normal to a dangerous situation in places like that. I once photographed a military convoy and wound up with mp's pointing guns at me (i was photographing a dusk scenery, and the convoy happened to get into my shot).

I remember in the 70's being warned not to photograph government areas while on holiday in Franco's Spain, I took that advice.

I grown up in the GDR (Eastern Germany).
Photographing towards the railway station building took me two days in jail ... 😀 ... paranoid b@stards ...

Interesting story. You are lucky for sure. Sounds like you lived an exciting life, going from tricky assignment to tricky assignment.
