It is best not to over hype anything.
I'd rather see useable photo gear remain affordable and available to our members and let the gamblers risk their money on other moola making black holes.
I know, just a little sarcasm.

You are right with respect to color rendition ... I love the resolution, size, built and long throw though, and for warmer colors, pick different film, typically.
Film suggestion for warmer colors?
Anyway, I am sure that the Zunow will sell for a ridiculous price, but it might be interesting to toss a bid on it to see what happens. I have seen a lot of what I would consider "low" prices on a number of eBay auctions lately, but for rare items like the Zunow, probably not a factor

Anybody want to over-hype the 50mm f1.8? We could make a fortune with how cheap they go for right now.![]()
The Serenar 1.8 is an good lens with lovely bokeh as well.

Watch that step!
There was a rush on these lenses like 2 years ago....and prices got this high before as well
~ the f1.5 is a good investment, if it`s "minty"
(at least they really photographed the auction well and if the glass is top, it`s worth every penny, *too bad it does`nt have the hood, then it would be an even better deal!*)
I still consider the f1.5 to be one of the GREATEST lenses ever made by Canon
As for items Ridiculous just look at the f0.95 ~ that`s a really ridiculous price increase!
(Less than 2 years ago they were $600 lenses and no one wanted them, now I see greedy folks trying to dump them for nearly $3k)
Hurry Hurry! The next Canon to rush is the f1.2, get yours NOW before it`s too late!!!!!!!!
They don`t call it the "Japanese Noctilux" for nuttin.......

Looks like the auction ended at US$650 for the Canon 50mm f/1.5.... Still lower that the minty boxed set that I saw selling for US$1250.

This lens is probably well worth what it is fetching. Second only to the Nikon 105/2.5 non AIS PC version, it is a top portrait lens.

Yes, Ampguy I agree......
I know I`ve shown this photo here at RFF before, but I thought I`d just share it again.
"The Leica Girl"
The lovely Angela Lynne shot with a 1956 Canon f1.5/50 on my 1945 IIIC K Chrome with Kodak CN400 ~ f1.5 @ 500sec.
Enjoy!
Tom
PS: Wow! I can`t believe this photo was taken two years ago, it feels like only yesterday
*the camera was a matching numbers 46' "Flat Top" IIIC*

"Flim? You want flim?"
Prices will decline now that I am not buying
Prices will decline now that I am not buying
If you want to trade the futures market on lenses, just ask me what I'm looking for. When I decide to buy, prices rise 100 - 250%. A Yashica Electro 25 GT was selling for about $65 when I started looking years back, peaked at $125 for a non CLA, which I found my purchase needed. I now have a $250 GT that no one will buy for half that.
Everyone here probably knows now that *I* am the single reason the Canon 50/1.5 prices soared so quickly. The good news is that I am no longer looking now that I have (here we go again) A sweet Sweeney Zeiss 50/1.5 sporting a Jupiter 3 shell. I can't even say that once.

These days, a Canon 50/1.5 is just about the only thing that's increasing in value...

And to go with that...
Here is a Sweet Sweeney, taken with the lens that Jim has now.
Uncoated 5cm CZJ Sonnar, converted to LTM, wide-open at F1.5:
And stopped down a bit to F4. Subject moved while I was focussing...

Among my favorite portrait lenses are these:
1. Nikon 105mm/2.5 LTM
2. Zeiss Jena 5cm/1.5 LTM [see the pastel colors in Brian's examples]
3. Canon 50mm/1.2 LTM
The Canon 50mm/1.5 is still rather new to me.

That's a good idea. Maybe I'll figure out what piece of gear I own that I'd like to sell, pretend to want to buy it, then sell it when the prices peak... but I feel the universe knows when I'd be trying to fool it.

That must have been yonks ago. Even a "lemon" of a lens goes for above US$200 these days.

4 years ago they were $300.
If I ever decide to sell off some lenses the market will flood and prices will drop. I feel like the national bank for camera lenses.
