The process of documenting our family.

John,
Thank you very much for sharing the fantastic photos.

Saul, I do appreciate your suggestion for more context/backing off.
I'd like to see both aspects.

My tiny family; 1 sister and 2 cats and my friends are not very co-operative
when I have my camera out.

Perhaps I should try again...

Thanks David. I think the Portraits should be every few years maybe, but the fly on the wall stuff needs to be ongoing.

Great photo Peter.
Thank you John. Mind you, not every request for a photo was quite so well received. :) :) :)

Those are very good head and shoulders film based portraits.
It is exactly taking close to document photo process.

I have several of similar framed and at the walls.

I also have thousands of family pictures taken in real family life.

I have them all in separate folder and they are displayed as screen background slideshow at house PCs.

It is also possible to have them on memory card and in the electronic frame. For example at mother in law place, because she was not allowed to come to see us during COVID outbreaks.

The Electronic frame is a brilliant idea for those who are apart from us. The everyday action shots are fun too. My shot of Emily with her cake wasn't staged, although it looks like a card shot. She had made cakes and was just tucking in.

MY wife came from Russia, where she was qualified as a medical practitioner with a specialization in internal medicine. But she still had to spend a considerable number of years studying in Australia for admission as a medical practitioner here. This is a typical shot of her doing just that. It has been never ending.

Wonderful photos here.

Has anyone considered video and audio recordings to preserve family history as well?

For my family, almost entirely gone now, I have 8mm ciné films of them from 1964-1978. Sadly, the only (incidental) audio I have is of my father only, on Video-8 that I made around 1994-1996. I need to convert those to DVD.

My aunt once made a VHS recording of her mother telling all the great family stories - unfortunately that tape got recorded over, so all we have now are the memories.

Well done! This ongoing project is important work.

I lost all my photos, negatives and slides in a flood nearly ten years ago.
I miss most the irreplaceable photos of my family members.

Chris
