The re introduction Meyer Optik Primoplan lens

I fail to see the "creamy" part, even compared to a $150 Minolta AF 50mm F1.4.

The original Primoplan was "super creamy" and it brings in big bucks now to buy and is very popular with Asian "creamy bokeh" aficionados.

You could barely give the things away 20 years ago. They are beloved of those whose bokeh tail wags their photographic dogs.

Cheers,

R.

I also remember used 5cm Summar lenses selling for 17 to 20 dollars at all the NYC big camera stores in the late 1970s.

The now highly vaunted Cooke Amotal lens in the 1950s was sold new as a bargain lens with a new Leica bottomloader camera or any new Canon LTM camera, as dealers sold list price if the camera was sold with the manufacturer's brand of 50mm lens and could offer a cheaper price if not.
