I'm not AFRAID to touch a digital camera, I just have no desire in the world to do so.
I do listen to NPR. All Things Considered on now.
I have a friend who builds guitar amplifiers. Does this count?

I drive a biodiesel-fueled car, use post-processing to create digital negs for contact printing, and have built a spring reverb unit. Do those count?
Wow a spring reverb unit - that takes me back to the days before bucket brigade delay lines, ccd's and oh digital...

I compost my prints, but that option isn’t there either![]()
Most of my pictures don't need composting sa they're already there...

Cycles and Hybrids are a step forward, but still usually rely on non-renewable energy sources.
Biodiesel is cool, but you have to find a source, plan your routes, modify or estimate mixing for cold weather, etc. It's been tempting for me to find an old VW or MBZ beater diesel and convert for it, but all electric technologies are moving forward fast.
For all electric, yes I mean Tesla, but car companies have created these vehicles in the past, and you see many of them around N. Calif.: ~ 1500+ RAV4s for Calif., and conversions, etc.
It's so exciting, I am thinking of starting an electric vehicle company!
It would be interesting to see an audit of the thermodynamic recovery system of the battery's manufacture.
I suspect it takes more energy to make them than they can store in their lifetime

Great stuff. I have had several stock and modded ST70s, and PAS 3 preamps, still have some stuff in the closets and garage.
Dynaco tubed gear was better than average, and they still hold up well to modern gear with mods. The iron was really that good.
I rebuilt a pair of Mk2's as my first project, and eventually mod'd them into interstage-coupled PP 6B4G amps. Sounds as good as anything out there commercially, for very low $$. Imagine I will have to convert them to 2A3's when my last quad of Sovtek 6B4's die.
I plan on using Mk3 A431 outputs in a 40w PP 300B amp. Someday, when I have time.

Hi dmr,
You definitely get your badge for rf counter counter culture! I like your blog, and feel I know all about your city from it. It's cool that you use film and the Olympus compacts. I want to get one, but I keep thinking I have one somewhere or somewhere in our family, but I'm not sure where, or what model.

Additionally, I drink beer, like firearms, never had a Mac, enjoy certain operas (daughter is opera singer), dabble in politics, am a history buff, and photograph happily although not necessarily well.
I drive a (most definitely not electric) 1200 Harley. It has pi-i-i-ipes... although I try not to be too obnoxious in built-up areas....

Did I mention that I drink beer?

Like my son said a few years back:
"Hey Pop, I just realized why there was such flowering of creativity in music, photography, the other arts back in the sixties!"
"Why is that, son?"
"Because you guys were all either stoned
or tripping!"

This same thought haunted and depressed me for a long time.
Then I finally realized how much of that art was pure crap...

cool!
cool!
Anything new I build or buy has to use 6L6/5881s. Not because they're the best, but I just happen to have a few thousand NOS of these.
Still have old fenders, hks, marshalls, that use EL34s, EL84s, KT88s, and 6V6s though.

The question - the only question - is; dogs! Cats are unreliable, unaffectionate, hostile, arrogant. HERE is the great divide! Dogs or (the gods forbid) cats. Everything else will be sorted accordingly!

Hi!
Hi!
I am from Berlin, Germany and would like to use the opportunity of this poll to introduce myself. I have been lurking for some time and found the information here on the forum very informative.
Concerning the Rangefinders, most of the time I am using a Bessa R/T with a 50mm Nokton, Jupiter 8, Industar 50, or an Olympus XA or Stylus I. Favourite Film: Tri-X. Developers: Diafine. I have also tried some stand developent in Rodinal.
I am not afraid of digital photography. In fact I am using a CHDK modified P and S quite regularly and I even own a Game Boy Camera.
Another genre I am fond of is toy cam photography. In fact, a crappy but friendly yellow plastic camera got me going on film.
Basically I am not a perfectionist and like the surprise factor of film quite a lot.
However, I am trying to get a better photographer, whatever that means.
And oh, yes, I have build a guitar tube amp too! Strange that this seems to be a characteristic of Rangefinder users...

Andrei Codrescu is brilliant. And hilarious. David Sedaris is pretty damn funny also.
Rush Limbaugh can be funny, but it's not when he THINKS he is.
