I loved what Leica did w/ the Q in terms of the evf showing the crop lines instead of cropping the image as Ricoh does on the LCD of the GR. To me, it is the closest an evf can get to the part of the rf experience where u can c the object moving into your shot. So with that in mind..
- need an evf, even if it tiny like the the ones on the Panasonic tz50
- implement the Q crop lines
- love a 24mp sensor so that a 47fov crop has more than 6mp worth of info, but for me not as important as the first two items on my list.

W/ the 21fov converter and ability to do in camera view of a 28, 35, and 47 fov by adding the evf and Q cropping feature...man what a nice next gen camera.

For the last two vacations, I have been taking two compact cameras...
- Panasonic lx100
- Ricoh GRmk1
It is a perfect combination..IMHO.

Anyway, what would u like to c in a next gen Ricoh?

Btw... I wish Ricoh would do a 35 or 40 fov camera as well based on their apsc GR.. I am mainly a 40mm fov shooter myself, so I set my GR to either 35 or 47 fov most of the time.

I'm happy with 21goggle/28/35, but if they could make 40 work (without much resolution loss) in place of 35, that would be divine.

Second, how hard would it be to add an EVF plugin option a la GXR? A bit more circuitry + a port beneath the shoe. Your decision to buy the EVF or not.

I can and do pack optical VFs for bright sun/contrast, and frame generously to compensate for parallax error, but I would not mind a dioptric EVF option. (And I don't need a zillion pixels or Superman refresh rate; the GXR EVF was plenty good.)
 
They should get their dust/weather sealing act together. I love the Ricohs. I'm just tired that after months of use, dust eventually works its way onto the sensor.
 
Weather sealing. Updated sensor. Faster AF. In that order. Please don't mess with the FOV. This size camera with it's handling, anything above 28mm will not work
 
So far I have been lucky..no noticeable dust on my sensor, even while occupying my front jean pocket. But I would second the dust resistance in the form of weather resistance in the next model.

In terms of 35 or 40 fov, here I am advocating the possibility of a second model... That is the next gen still be the 28 fov but like Sigma DP1 and 2 series, have a second model w/ a sightless longer focal length. For example, if 35 fov then have crop 50 and 70 modes. Even at the present 16mp sensor, a crop 50 will still yield around 10mp from a 35 fixed format fov camera.

A gxr like evf would be ok...but a built in rf evf like the Sony a6000 would be the better or a heaven forbid a pop-up one like the Sony rx100 I guess would be a good compromise for keeping it exactly the same form factor as the original.

+1 on the 2nd model 28+40 would make a great pairing - if they released them alternating years their cash flow would be sure and steady.

I bought a Q7+8mm lens as a 40mm stand in but the image quality does not match the GRD IV let alone the GR .

A monochrome GR would also get some attention

Come on Ricoh show a little imagination
 
On the subject of gxr.. I wish Ricoh love affair w/ Pentax would cool a little... Bring me more Ricoh love..whether the next gen GR or a GXR like camera w/o lensor, but one that has a 16mp sensor, dedicated evf and designed to mount m lenses... In other words, no a12 m module, just all one unit.

+1 on the monochrome sensor. Why is it that Leica is the only ones w/ the where with all to market a monochrome sensor. The has got to be a market considering the guys that do ir conversion will do monochrome conversions for dslrs.

A Ricoh GR or Fuji X100, I would think would have a good market for a monochrome sensor..

Another vote for a monochrome sensor.

In no particular order, here's my wishlist:
Monochrome sensor (Size doesn't matter. I'd be happy with a MFT but that's just me.)
Weathersealing
Dual AF ike on the GRD IV
Hotshoe EVF compatibility (no built in EVF because it might compromise size)
Keep the size as-is. Keep the lens at 28mm and keep it shaving sharp corner to corner. F2.8 is fine with me.
 
1. 35mm equivalent lens (what is that - 23mm?).

2. If Ricoh stays with the 28mm FOV formula... then I'd like more megapixels (for the 35mm FOV crop).

3. Faster AF in low light.
 
1. Make the ring around the lens a working dial. Great for focus/aperture control. Like the RX100.
2. BW version. That would increase the sensitivity enough too. Like the leica M.
3. Big, bright, built in 1:1 OVF. Like the R-D1. Small EVFs with small cameras are not that useful, you tend to use the LCD most of the time.
 
EVF; bump in mega-pixels; a choice of alternative model with longer FL; (minor -- maybe address the 'dust' issue that some encountered?)
 
1. Manual focus ring (around lens or as on Sigma DP1) - must have
2. Weather sealing
3. Viewfinder
 
1. seal better for dust or some weather protection

3. Sensor improvement 24mp (Size doesn't matter) as long as IQ is equivalent to current. (additional mp should help when change to 35 FOV in camera)
4. Achieve the 1,2 above without changing size.
5. A Monochrom version even if nothing else change just put a monochrom sensor in.
 
the main reason why I let go of my GR was because of the dust issue, I wouldn't mine getting another one if they seal the lens and sensor better.

I'm fine with APS-C but higher ISO and more MP (21-24MP) would be nice.

an Aux VF can be easily added but the option for an EVF would be nice to have as well.
