the saga continues...O.T.

with a very bright (blinding) light and a magnifying glass i can see what might be threads on the inside of the focusing barrel.
using the 49mm hood sems easier and i wonder what the real hood looks like cause it still has to cover the 28 end of business.

i will continue the search for the proper hood.

this is the set up for today's walkabout, complete with wrong hood for the short zoom.

You go, Joe! Lovely. I'm about to get my butt up and get outside with an SP (APX100) and maybe an OM with a lens "to be determined". Nice sunshine out there, and I need to buy one or two more little things.

Even the 21/3.5 is not cheap; it has a wonderful reputation. I am very fortunate to have a 21/2, purchased at employee discount price in the mid-80s; even with a healthy discount it was well over $500 in 1985 (or so) dollars.

The wider lenses (8, 16, 18, 24) are also quite pricey, though with luck a 24/2.8 can be had for reasonable money. The 28s and 35 primes are much more reasonable, especially the slower (2.8, plus the 28/3.5) and with luck you can find a good sample for very little money. The shift lenses are another story altogether.

At this point the only wide in which I would be interested is the 24. But it is only a mild interest, having the 21 & 28.

i have the vivitar 19-35 so i can go long if i want.

the zuiko 24 is of interest but only at the right price.

the zm25 is wholly satisfying and in truth probably a better camera/lens combo for the wide stuff i like.

i'm finding the oly much more comfortable with the longer lenses and the zi with the wides for sure.

I agree regarding the ZI/ZM25 combination. The Zuiko 21/2 is special, and I would find it hard to give up that combination. The OM-35/2.8 combination is similar in its meaning to me, but I admit as much for sentimental reasons, as the 35/2.8 "liberated" me from the 50. As for longs, I will stick with the 100 and, if I can resurrect it from fungus, the 300/4.5. The only other long that is of interst is the 85/2 or 100/2.

OK, now I see the two filter threads. Found another oBoy auction for this lens. It's easy to see where the 55mm thread is.

Clearly, the 49mm thread is for filters, but the 55mm thread allows a hood to be mounted independent of filters. Cool!

Truis, I like the idea of "employee discount price" :) I work for Creo (now Kodak) and Leaf digital backs are engineered in the building nearby. I should have asked what is Leaf Aptus 22 price after employee discount :)

Igor: Go for it! Ask them if they could do a special run of OM-D backs. Leaf back on an OM-4Ti. Oh yeah, baby!

BTW, if you ever get to Rochester, let me know.

Trius, Rochester is our home - Kodak we are and Xerox is our customer, if I ever visit there (my posiiton doesn't require alot of traveling) I will drop you a line.
