The scanning area in Reflecta RPS 10M (& PrimeFilm XA) is too small

I've seen that others in this forum have had the same bad experience, but is there any solution, maybe a mechanical adjustment?

Reflectas spec for RPS 10M says a scanning area of 24,3 x 36,5 mm, but when I scan a frame from a film that have exactly 24 x 36 mm frames, the frame is croppet at the top and at one side with approximately 0,5 mm.

I do really want to scan the whole frame - and the 0,3 and 0,5 mm too - to get the thin natural black border "telling" this is the hole picture!

Yes, DrMcCoy, I will report in this forum if I find any solution. But by this time I doubt I will succeed. The only thing I've read in forums about this scanners scanning area, is that it is to small. It's miserable that a 24x36 scanner can't scan the whole 24x36 frame!

But I still hope ...

Is the film aperture too small or is the line sensor not long enough to capture the whole width of the projected light?

Since it crops both dimensions (horizontal and vertical) I suspect it's the film aperture that is not big enough. They probably do this intentionally to prevent light from unexposed part of the negative to bleed into the picture area. You would need to file the film aperture down a bit to get the whole frame exposed and live with the bleeding.

But even this might not be enough. You should also check if there is a way to adjust the position of the lens and/or the sensor in the scanner to get the (now bigger) picture projected in its entirety on the sensor.

(I've never seen Reflecta RPS 10M scanner, but I did move the lens and positioned the sensor in my Minolta 5400 to get better geometry)

Thanks to your reply, I now have take a closer look in the inspection window at the top of the scanner. I can clearly see that the aperture don't crop the frame. What I see is a scanning area of approximately 24,3 x 36,5 mm, and that's what Reflectas spec says!

I really want to open the scanner and take a closer look, but I don't because I probably will need the guarantee.
