Hi, everyone -

I'm doing some more tweaking on the latest Speedex to come through here, and today was testing day. Instead of the usual generics, I decided to bring it along as Maddie and I trekked the dogs down a local bike path, the Schuylkill River Trail. It was hot, the dogs liked to have kilt me, but Maddie and I had a fun time. And the Speedex was aces.

At the trailhead, Maddie paused with Mindy and Roxy:

There's a cement molding factory right at this trailhead (though I don't know the name; no mind - it's a neat structure):

There's the remnants of industry in this little part of Pennsylvania. Most of it is dying, or has already succombed. Dunno what this plant does, but it's got a helluva front yard, all paved, with ruins of old buildings strewn about:

Of course, it's posted. Why, I don't know - no one in Stowe is trying to get in...

Lots of fences around the place. Most easily scalable:

or completely useless:

Lots of purty weeds along the path, though:

Okay, one of my favorite film wastes from home, just 'cause:

And a 100% crop from that picture:

The Speedex is a piece of work: simple, elegant, and effective. Looks a treat in its burgundy bellows. Have one more glitch to iron out (the shutter release button isn't returning like it should), and this one's done.

Thanks for looking.

Wow! Is it a rangefinder version or just a "Special"? I'm going to have to keep working on mine - those are terrific!

There are some steel mills in Conshohocken area that look like that...

It's actually a precursor to the "Special R" - same body, same rangefinder, just a different name.

Conshohocken, huh? I think I might know where some of those are... ;)

Can't wait to get the light leaks plugged on my Speedex and Viking.

They're definitely worth the effort!
