The shops are in no particular order.
I will Post some without maps or photos to start with
but will add them as I get/make them!

MAP CAMERA started life as part of SOFTMAP, a computer retailer.
Map camera is located in Two separate buildings on the west side of Shinjuku Station.
About a 5 minute walk from the West and south exits.

Map Camera Building 1 "FilmCameraStore" Contains:

B1 Floor: New & Secondhand Cameras from Leica RF & SLR, Nikon RF, Canon RF, Cosina Voightlander, Zeiss ZM, Russian/Chinese RF, Hasselblads, MF & LF Cameras & Lenses, Bags, Straps and their latest section on Collectable Watches & Pens.
2nd Floor: New Cameras & Lenses from, Nikon, Canon, Minolta, Map Camera's own Accesories (Filters, Adapters etc) and a Book setion.
3rd Floor: Secondhand Cameras & Lenses by, Canon, Minolta, Pentax, Olympus,
Konica, Binoculars and MF Pentax's and Bronica's
4th Floor: Secondhand Cameras & Lenses by, Nikon, Contax, MF Mamiyas and Fuji and Light meters.
6th Floor: This is their Trade/Purchase valuation office. So If you wanted to part exchange or sell (Outright/Consignment) some equiptment this is where to take it.

2nd Floor: DSLR Floor, New & Secondhand DSLR Cameras & Lenses.
3rd Floor: New & Secondhand Compacts and P&S Digitals, Memory cards and accesories. ( EPSON RD-1 is here)

MAP RENTALS

Map Camera also has a rental sevice, The office is diagonally opposite Map Camera 2, and is called Map rentals, They have everything from DSLRS & Lenses to Video cameras to AV equpment for rent. Need Passport and Credit card to rent.

Shinjuku Secondhand Camera Market

The Secondhand Camera market is a Shop in Shinjuku very close to Map Cameras.
The Shop is located on the second floor above a Shoe store called ABC Mart.
ABC Mart has a big bright yellow sign and is hard to miss.
Secondhand Camera Market, as the name implies, only has secondhand equipment,
The shop is quite small but manages to stock a lot of equipment. most of their inventory is classic camera gear and the majority I suspect is on Consignment.
You won't find dslrs or many digitals, nor a lot of autofocus gear.

RF GEAR : Leica, Nikon, Canon, Contax, CV, Russian, Fixed Lens RFs
(They have quite a selection of RF Lenses & Accessories inc Russian Lenses.)
SLR Gear : Nikon, Canon, Contax, Pentax, Olympus.
some less common Miranda, Topcon, older Minolta, Olympus Pen Fs.
MF & LF Gear : Hasselblads, Pentax, Mamiya, Makina, Linhoff, Horseman and Sinars.

They also have quite a large "JUNK" section which houses Cameras, Lenses and Accessories with minor problems to ones that look like they are beyond repair. A good source for donor parts.
There is also a large selection of Camera Brochures and Manuals.
This is also the place where I had my Canon RF Lens and a couple of other lenses CLAd.
Quite reasonably priced and good workmanship.

Good stuff, I also like Kamera no Kimura in Shinjuku. I am not in Tokyo now though, so I am not sure if I can find a map or guide people there. I am currently in Sapporo and may put up some leads as to good shops if anyone is interested. There are a few in the downtown area, and one a bit further afield.

Tokyo and Osaka Yodobashi Camera seem to have just about everything. And what it does not have, it can order. They also have online film orders and free shipping over Y10,000.

I don't find second hand very cheap in Japan. But some good deals can be had on Yahoo Auctions Japan.

There's a little second had shop in West Shinjuku that I like. I don't remember the name (Stuck in the states for a while), but if you know where Map camera is, continue down that street until you get to Sky Scraper district, but don't cross the street. Turn right around the corner, and it's in the basement of the first (I think) building on that street. Walk around a bit if you don't see it there. It's stacked with used cameras, and they are helpful and their prices are good.

Depending how new the model is, it can be 10.000 to 20.000 Yen. Eg the 50/f1.5 is new ~59.000 Yen, the second hand ranges from 39.900 to 48.300 Yen.

The Yodobashi Camera out the west Shinjuku exit has the largest film and supply department I have ever seen. The whole first floor is lined with film coolers and paper. The second Floor has chemicals and everything thing else and then some. That Yodobashi Camera is odd because it takes up like three seperate city blocks. I couldn't find it on my own, but a clerk from one section was nice enough to walk me down the street to the right section.

I'm kind of repeating what Finder said above, but I get excited about just walking into the film department. 🙂

No one seems to have mentioned Lemon Camera in Ginza. There are two stores, the one selling rangefinder stuff and used stuff. Sorry I don't feel confident enough to try and explain where it is exactly. Maybe someone else could give good directions?

I'm in Nagoya. There aren't that many places that sell film here: Top Camera, Bic Camera and a hand full of mom n' pop places here and there.
Developing can be expensive, depending on the film i.e. Kodachrome (¥1200+) and TMAX (¥1000)

If you continue down the alley where Shinjuku used Camera is, you'll come to a large street. Turn right, walk about 40 steps until you get to the corner. At the corner (on your left side) will be a small sign that says "Camera Box" (in Japanese). Go down the steps and you'll find a decent used camera shop. Camera box specializes in Nikon SLR and rangefinder gear, but they also have pretty good collection of Canon rangefinders as well.

Leaving camera box, you turn left at the corner and head toward Map Camera. Go one block, then look to your left for Kitamura Camera. Their used gear shop is on the 5th floor. They don't have the same selection as the other shops in the area, but they do have a fair amount of interesting gear. They also tend to have excellent prices.

You'll also find a Kitamura camera shop in the B! level of Tokyo station at the Yaesu underground shopping mall. This shop has a rather small selection of used gear, but the prices are great, and I'm often surprised at the things I find there (like a Zorki 3 for $75, and a mint Canon EF for $60).

On the Yaesu side of Tokyo station is a large road which runs parallel to the station. If you follow this road to the right, heading toward Ginza, you will find the Ginza Methodist Church (on the left side). On the 8th floor of the church building is Lemon Camera. Lemon has an extensive collection of rangefinder, medium, and large format cameras and accessories. They also tend to have a large amount of consignments which often have very good prices.

Leaving Lemon camera, you continue walking down the same main street. At the next major intersection (Harumi-dori), you'll come to the famous Nikon House. Nikon House sells mostly SLR gear (all of it used), but they also have good collection of Nikon rangefinder stuff.

Leaving Nikon house, and turning left on Harumi-dori, go up 2 blocks and turn left on the alley/roadway. On your left you'll find 2 more used gear shops which sell a variety of things.

Go back to Harumi-dori and continue walking in the same direction for about 10 minutes. You'll eventually find Sankyo Camera on your left side. There are actually 2 Sankyo Camera shops. The first one you come to specializes in Japanese cameras, mainly rangefinders. A little further up you'll see the second shop, which specializes in German cameras, mainly Leicas.

I've done business with all of these shops, and all are reputable. Shinjuku Secondhand Cameras tends to have the best selection for the best price, Lemon Camera has the best collection of really nice gear, and the owner of Sankyo Camera is an expert on all things Leica and Canon. His prices are a bit higher than others, but his expertise and help are priceless.

I know this is ancient, but figured I'd share my two yen. There's a very small camera shop in Akihabara, on the main strip but down a ways (towards Suehirocho) on the left side of the road. It's a single room w/ gear stacked to the top. Good stuff, and pretty competitive prices considering how cheap some things are online these days. Definitely worth popping in. I had always known it was there but never bothered looking at much of the gear until last week (after I had moved away).
