Yes, Ruben.
I now understand that you work for Apple Computer and want me to upgrade from 'very big screen' to 'very big screen indeed' so you write too much for my 'very big screen'.
I like what you write, but hope that you do learn to edit.

Bloody hell, I got to the end of the second page and then realised there were 10 more!
It would be grand if there were more birds on the forum, a load of blokes always ends up with proverbial willy measuring.
Whether it's pints of beer, lens resolution, darts or bokeh.

Hi folks,
I would like to suggest we all make a 4 or 5 days truce in order to allow forum focusing on the Gallery Picks. There are there a bunch of guys making a big effort in reviewing a giant amount of pics, and there are others, many more on the other side, waiting for feedback. Let's show them we appreciate their efforts.
Cheers,
Ruben

Ruben's thread supplied a new battle field for the continuing war. Whatever it's intent, it strayed far off course, created a lot of ill will, and would have been better off being deleted early on.
Ruben- just delete the thread- don't give them another battlefield.

That's good
I guess the reason I haven't posted any photos here at RFF is "The Fear of Criticism". As much as I would appreciate some input, I'm afraid what my own reactions would be. I think that is one thing that all should have in mind. There is a large photo forum here in Norway, and they actually have a rather good system: They have a image *gallery* and a image *critique gallery*.
Also, and this is a big one, all members post under their real names - no anonymity. Members can sign up under fake names, but for the most part it seems to work. This brings a certain sense of accountability into the equation. I know I shouldn't talk here - after all I'm posting this under a dumb nick, but I do appreciate those of you here that use your own names.

OK, yesterday was my mom's birthday, so I have missed lots of fun here, but seeing this so quickly pop up after Fred's request was a good laugh.

Now that made me laugh. Three times.

Issachar Marx, author of the Polish versions of "Wallenstein" and "Gargantua", often referred to the art of photography as a "black science", a "pale, hideous lifeless mockery and corruption of true nature", but interestingly enough, in his "Bibliotheca Forensica", he includes many examples of Daguerreian plates of portraits of the deceased which he claims can provide proof of the afterlife due to minute alterations of expressions of the expired produced by the intoning of arcane chants in the mortuary. Al Hazrad, the Arab phrenologist, provided many of these multi-phonic hymns which he claims were recovered from several 18,000 year old manuscripts uncovered in an unmapped Babylonian cave.
There are only a few copies of "Bibliotheca Forensica" extant. One may view a copy in one of the sealed antiquarian book reading rooms in the old long quarantined library in Arkham, Mass, but there is a seven year waiting list.
It is well worth seeking out a copy and may corroborate many of the hotly contested opinions I have expressed herein.

I left school at 16 after doing miserably at my GCEs. I took a job as a clerk in an ironworks, got married, had kids and just about manage to keep my head above water. I can't compete with the brain-boxes here with their multiple degrees who, obviously, were too scared to enter the real world so hid in school for as long as they possibly could, grinding out meaningless qualifications and learning nothing!
Sadly, I cant find an emoticon that represents me speaking with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek.
Anyroad up, I have heard of E. A. P. but never read any of his stuff (unless he wrote "The Monkeys Paw" - nope, just Googled it. He didn't.), so please enlighten me as to who is using a pseudonym lifted from literature as I really can't go back through this lot and Google everyone's name without completely losing the will to live.

W.W. Jacobs could write a good short story. May I also recommend "The Terrible Solomons" by Jack London?

Traditionally applied to the non-politicized proletariat, as distinct from those among the proletariat who try to better themselves by political means.emraphoto said:"lumpen proletariat"

I think that emraphoto is pointing out that it should be "lumpenproletariat" not "lumpen proletariat."

Just tried with my ears, armpit, arse crack and knees.
It seems "hands" are the best way.
I didn't try the crotch, so perhaps I am wrong.
