6) Film loading is err... quirky. I loaded the first roll like a pro and then proceeded to botch loading the second roll :bang:. I have worked out why, so the next roll should be OK.

I am. And I am spending all too much of my spare time trying to understand and use all the new software that comes with the digital age. Instead of using all the nice equipment listed above.

As for buying outmoded technology, I have a Nikon D300 so I know what it can offer. It is an amazing piece of kit but there has been something missing both in the process and in the result. I could spend ages tweaking a RAW file to try and get it to look almost but not quite like a B&W film print. Or I could scan a neg and bingo, there it is. Can I define "it"? No, but I know it when i see it.

I also resent the built-in obsolescence of modern digital cameras. The D300 is already yesterday's model with the release of the D700 and so it goes. Yes I know that just because the D700 exists, this does not suddenly make the D300 a bad camera but the urge to jump on the upgrade treadmill can be difficult to resist. The MP is a poke in the eye to that mentality.

I also love mechanical objects that have been refined over time to do their job well. I also collect vintage mechanical watches. They are less accurate and more expensive than quartz watches but I connect with them so much more. The same applies to the Leica. I am in the happy position where photography is a hobby and not something I need to do to deadlines to put food on the family table. The MP fits with what I want from my hobby.

I have both an M6 & M2. I enjoy both cameras very much. One day, not long ago, I walked in to my favorite camera store and for sale was the Leica rep's black paint MP. I asked to take a look. I bought it on the spot and it has become my "go to" camera.

As Roger said unless it's a financial hardship buy it and go take pictures!

Sounds like a great set at a good price, but realistically, I don't think I can justify it right about now. Good luck selling it - although why not just go out and by a CFV if you're 'going digital'?

It'd work with your SWC as well, and you could use those wonderful Hasselblad Vs - the only cameras IMO that are as much of a pleasure to use as my Leicas...
 
Let's redefine craziness:
I sold a chrome M6TTL 0.58 to buy a ...chrome MP 0.58 at twice the price.
and I'm happy...so happy!!

You haven't begun to talk about Leica lenses yet. It may start with an inquiry about, oh let's say a 50mm Summicron, which you then think better to have better low light performance and you start asking about the Summilux which moves on to the asph and eventually (possibly as little as two days in your case) you might end up convinced that you absolutely must have a Noctilux!!!😱😱

Be warned, you have crossed the threshold!!:angel:
