I'm curious to know how quiet or loud the xpan is?
My bessa r2 is what I consider loud (slr like), when you take the picture, people know it...on the other end of the spectrum is my yashica 124G, you have to listen to hear it.
I would like to purchase one, but would like something quieter than the r2. (not that I think that it would be that big of a deterrent
)

Hi plantedtao,
Im not really familiar with the camera ur referring to, but the xpan isnt very loud. Being a rangefinder, you dont have that clunky noise from the mirror etc, so im guessing that takes away alot of the sound, as you only have the shutter curtain making any sound.
I like the sound it makes, to me it sounds electronic almost.. hard to explain... but i have a canon30d and is MUCH louder than the xpan!!

The shutter is very quiet, you only really hear the motor drive which is a soft winding noise that doesn`t bother me or anyone else if they are near me.
I also use a bronica etrsi wich is so loud it scares little children!...so I find the xpan nice to use.
