The story behind the lx100

Oh, now I get the rationale for the model name {slaps forehead}

--> LUMIX x100! Take that, Fujifilm!
:rolleyes:

Must say I got interested in that camera until I saw it with the lens extended. Otherwise it ticks a lot of boxes.

I'm thinking the LX100 is aiming directly at the marcket niche that wishes the Fuji X100 had a small, fast zoom lens on it.

Loved my LX3. I need a camera like a hole in my head, but if the LX7 prices drop now . . . . :rolleyes:

The LX100 really does look to be a terrific camera, but I'm more of a prime guy for carry about use. If I were going to buy that, I'd buy a GX7 instead and put the lens I wanted on it. :)

What exactly makes this camera interesting to you?
I just noticed sensor is 4/3 not m4/3.

M43 and 43 are the same size sensor. The difference is related to 43 cameras are designed w/ longer flange to sensor distance to accommodate the mirror of a dslr style camera. 43 came first followed years later by m43.

The way they cropped into the 43 sensor uses 12mp of a 16mp sensor, makes it the same size as the canon equivelent sensor..

The camera is even bigger than the GM1 with a zoom. I bought one and a two-lens kit for the SO (12-32, 15mm 1.7). To me the GM1 and the 15mm is the perfect pocketable kit, I'd get a second kit myself if I were more invested in M43...
