The trouble with Kodachrome (Europe)

I called yesterday the Kodachrome lab in Lausanne and I was told they are closing down on the 25th of September. They also said that any film received after that will be forwarded to the US, processed there, and then sent back. But they didn't know what's to happen in the long run. However the 7dayshop still has the process pre-paid Kodachrome and I wonder if there's still some way to have it processed. Any clues as to what may be the most price effective way to do that?

Based on past experience when the British lab closed send it to Switzerland, they send it to United States and when you get it back there may be a small charge for postage.

Since Dwayne's in the USA will be the only lab for Kodachrome, wouldn't it be easier/cheaper/safer to send the film to them directly? Dwayne's also offers a very good price for scans on CD at the time of processing, only $4.00. Send multiple rolls to save on postage.

Thank you Jon and Venchka. It would seem that sending directly to Dwayne is the most time efficient way to develop the film. Of course buying it here already includes the processing envelop. But I doubt whether Dwayne would waver the processing cost. The best will be to give them a call and see what they have to say.

Yes, you 're absolutely right about this - and there's no losing in asking.

I buy my film from 7dayshop.com. They charge approx. £6.00 per film but that included the processing in Swiss lab. That made Kodachrome a reasonably priced film to shoot, esp. considering the quality that it gave you. If the processing and round-trip to Dwayne's does not make it prohibitively expensive I 'd love to shoot some more Kodachrome when the occasion asks for it.
