Taken after toting my Pentax 6x7 with 105mm/2.5 lens uphill for the better part of 3 days. Actually, we reached this point, Fall Creek Pass Elelvation ` 12,550 feet, in 4 1/2 days starting at sea level in New Orleans.

Pentax 6x7, Pentax SMC 105mm/2.4 lens. I really like 105mm lenses.

Who was it saying that the Canon MONSTER hasn't any value for real photography and just produces ugly results?? It looks like you have tamed the beast - congratulations!

No 50/1.2 or 50/1.4 lens can create such bokeh at middle distances - it's just a matter of optics. And in this case, beautiful structered!

I like a lot of the photos in this thread and even though I am still learning a lot about "bokeh" and how to get the results that I desire out of my lenses, I thought I would post these photos up......

Leica m6ttl 90mm f2......(an early version).... I think I shot this photo at 15 f2.......I know it is a little "blurry/not sharp" but it was hand held...

this photo was taken with a 50mm summilux, also an early version and I believe it was at f1.4....

both were shot with tri-x

Interesting, Hans! Wide open I guess? The 40 Rokkor has a reputation for smooth pleasant bokeh, but in this difficult circumstance it rather resembles what you'd see with a 40 Nokton which has a rep for unsettled bokeh!

Yes Doug, it's wide open, I attribute the odd highlight bokeh to the fact that it was shot at high noon, in Vietnam, has the foliage a bit denser it would be much smoother i guess

Here is my contribution for what I call good bokeh:

16" F3.8 Wollensak Vitax Portrait lens on 8x10 Camera @ f3.8. The picked cornfield and timber in the background blend together.

Not so good bokeh:

Zeiss Sonnar 50mm f1.5 @ f1.5.
