The ultimate Bokeh thread; pics please

M8.2 with 35mm 'cron' Asph.

The Leica Summicron 35mm f/2.0 might be one of the best 35mm lenses ever created, but it surely has among the most unpleasant out-of-focus rendition of all lenses. Absolutely harsh and clinical, with bright-edged halos, as demonstrated by the shot above.

I think the 'cron 35mm is much better suited to distant (e.g. landscape) imagery. Thank you for posting the informative sample! Every now and then the though of getting one crosses my mind, but if one cares more about the general aesthetic of an image than just resolution, the appeal simply melts away... (unlike the summicron's backgrounds!)

P.S. This post is not to pick on you or your image, just general observations about the lens.

Yes, I recently wrote that I didn't care for my 35mm F 3.5 Serenar, and the reason was Bokeh. But I have learned to live with it. I also like my 50mm Elmar F 3.5 which is like the above:

My favorite is the Apotar on my Isolette, wide open F 4.5:

Jupiter-8 @ 2.8 probably, drugstore slide film 100 ISO (supposedly kodak elite chrome), converted in PS to tri-x@1600

i love the jupiter-8's bokeh. the best thing about that lens...
