I had no idea this was possible!
Come to think of it, what we see in the image must be reflections from the edges of the aperture. Correct? Or am I missing something basic about the pinhole?
I would have to guess that you are describing what we are seeing. I like the effect at times.

Funny, I've been hunting flare with my T3 lately which is immense fun because it controls it so well...

the first one is shot with a cv 12mm on my rd1s, and the second--nicely distorted beyond all reason by the flare
--was shot with an industar-61 l/d on the same camera.
I was looking for flare with the first shot, (Even typing that statement makes me think of the movie "Office Space.") In the second example, the light just got inside and bounced around and hit just about anything--including dirt and dust--it could find.

These three were all on the same roll; you might say I was on a roll with flare! Apricot tree and broken foundation were shot with a 45mm lens, and the rose bushes at the Mexican restaurant with a 165mm, using a Pentax 6x7. I must have caught a pair of space aliens holding hands in front of the roses that day... It's not a light leak, middle of the roll with shots ok on either side, maybe something reflecting strongly from the strip of lawn, or possibly a lab processing problem.

I got a nice flare here (looks like it's intentional but it actually wasn't). CV15, M8.

i've seen circular flare from the summarit only on two occasions - both wide open - both with fairly strong light from the side. i wonder if it's not due to a reflection from the OEM lensshade and/or filter?
greetings from hamburg
