It would be nice if people explained acronyms when they are first introduced into a thread and not assume we're all in the club.
For those not in the know, HCSP is hard core street photography group on Flickr. I for one was very impressed with quite a number of images on there. I didn't look into how it works but I'm assuming there's some control on what gets posted?

Thanks for decoding this. I think many people here take it for granted that others share their knowledge and if you need an explanation you're in the wrong place. :D

From reading the group description, it would seem that HCSP is very heavily curated to the point that it would be hard to get anything in unless you fulfilled their rules of what Street Photography is - rather similar to the discussion here, in fact.

HCSP might also refer to the Flickr Hard Core Seagull Photography group, which is a lot more lighthearted.

HCSP kind of reminds me of art school where you can see a lot of photos that are more or less pastiches of Martin Parr or Diane Arbus, etc... But there's some good stuff there, too. The mods definitely have a strong style going on, which is nice to see.

well, i looked at a couple of hundred photos on the hcsp group site. i saw a several photos - maybe 30 or so - that would fit this thread nicely. the rest were, well, dead.
i learned something else: good street photography requires as lot of time with a lot of people one doesn't know. i don't much like crowds of strangers, so i seldom practice; ergo, my hit rate is about 1 per 1,000 frames - or less ... :)
