It really does. Probably my favorite current thread on RFF.

In my mind, (as I stated before) the issue is not "how good of a decisive moment picture one can catch", that's really a matter of skill and trained eye. I think SF is dead because it does not reflect life, being that there is really no life on street any more. People don't live there, dont spend time there, they just pass it by on a way to home, mall, movie. At least in most places of US.
Except homelless, that's a different subject entirely.

I am also in Detroit and I do not agree with you. I drive through much of Detroit and see people "living" on the street. There are many poor neighborhoods that do not have a computer in every home so they still go outside and hang out with friends and family. --not quite the neighborhoods you want to stop in, but the people are there.

I was out last night photographing in Royal Oak where the people were all over the streets enjoying a nice evening. It still happens.

I live in Chicago and the streets are packed, in the city, most of the time. Some neighborhoods are just gold mines for photographs. There are some areas that are so diverse even economically not only culturally which makes things so interesting visually.

I don`t think that there was any logic behind the original assertion.
There have been a few threads recently having a pop at street photography but the pictures tell a different story.

Agree.. You, Sparrow, ourmanintangiers, Michael, shiro and there are so many more really good photographers that have posted really good work in this the undead street thread. I love this thread because of the work thats here. I get inspired ever time I look in. Now I should shut the **** up and go out and get some things to contribute (LoL)
