The US in October (Asbury Park, Occupy Wall Street, etc.!)

Of course you don't have to have a Leica. Some people can take better pictures on a phone than many Leica owners can.
Not saying this is a great shot but I just remembered I took one on the first day with my Android phone, when I didn't have the X100 with me:

Works OK if you're aware of the limitations / can work within them.

it's "strange days" in the USA. A lot of frustrated people a lot of unemployed people and a lost generation. A new situation and photos taken with a new generation of camera. Entirely appropriate for the moment. I can see an "outsider's eye" here because you aren't invested in the situations you are encountering. Very nice work.

Thanks for the cross-posting andersju. Without it, I might not have seen your thread. I'm jealous of you on many levels here.

I have actually traveled by Amtrak once in this country and enjoyed it immensely. That said, there are many people here who will never travel by Amtrak- much less across the entire country- and you're doing it before the age of 30. Hell, most people in this country won't cross it in an airplane.

Thanks for posting some great photos and please keep posting more!

From Chicago I took the California Zephyr train to San Francisco, which was quite an experience. Traveling in some areas on the east coast it sometimes felt like it was all industrial wasteland and urban sprawl. Spending hours watching cornfields and going through the Rockies provided a very different view of the country.

Geraldo arrived with Fox News; heckling ensued.

Excellent work! You ought to do a blurb book, I'd buy it. I'm sorry I missed your initial posting, I live in St Louis and could have walked around with you for a couple days. Next time.
