The vented lens hood

They do help. The easiest way to see it is to direct a light on the lens from oblique angle, and see the shade a hood casts on front element.

Heavystar has the most variety of sizes, but American Eagle is sometimes cheaper on certain sizes. Both are reliable vendors.

Just search for "49mm" or "55mm". I use the 55mm hood on my 50/1.2 and it works perfectly (not vented, but works great).

the rokkor thread size (for filters/hoods etc) is 40.5

the 43 will fit a 40/1.4 cv lens and if on a cl will allow for less blocking of the rf patch.

the rokkor 40 is a very nice lens.
the aftermarket sellers have the 40.5 metal hoods. i would buy one instead of the rubber one that originally camr with that lens.

i just prefer metal.

it's a metal, vented hood from s&w, made in china...likely in the same factory as the rest of the aftermarket hoods.
it has the 'flat' sides not the pretty inward leaning sides.

i bought it for the cv 40 because the cv hood blocked part of the frosted window on the cl.

like new...😉
